Mike Pougounas left the Flowers Of Romance in 1998 due to several arguments with the rest of the band to form a new one, named NEXUS after the androids in the movie "Blade Runner".
The last Flowers Of Romance guitar player Lefteris Strouggaris joined the new group as well as the drummer Vangelis Papachristopoulos (ex-Divorce) and a nomadic figure as a bass player Costas Spanos.
Right after the release, on December of the same year, of an EP titled NEXUS
, Dimitri "Sidhéog" Steves (ex-The Drops) replaced Papachristopoulos on the drums and the band records the pre-production of what is going to be the first full-length album of NEXUS.
After they left FM Records, Pougounas creates on March 9 CYBERDELIA RECORDS and on May 19 releases NEXUS's debut album in Greek, entitled "6".
On the same day the band is about to support the MISSION in Athens after being invited by Wayne Hussey himself.
On February 28 2001 NEXUS released the album "CYBERNAUT" which gets critical acclaim by media and fans, in both Greece and abroad.
Distribution is done across the continent and the UK while NEXUS tracks were featured in foreign label compilations.
Soon after that, Lefteris Strouggaris left NEXUS to make it on his own to make Pougounas, Steves and Spanos agree to continue as a trio using session musicians to fill up the gaps. Panos Economakis (ex-Flowers Of Romance, ex-Min Pyrovolite Ton Pianista) a guitar virtuoso and close friend to the three members is the first pick.
The "Wrapped In Cellophane" album is put together and George "Rakos" Kagialedakis, a camera magician, is recruited for what is going to be the first video footage of the band.
During January 2002, the track “Walking On Thin Ice†(taken from the album “Cybernautâ€) is featured in the Italian compilation Decadance Vol. 1 with bands such as Evil’s Toy, Grendel, Pulcher Femina and others.
Cyberdelia Records released the album “Wrapped In Cellophane†on April the 1st, 2002 .
NEXUS appeared on the July/August issue of the top German Music Magazine ZILLO which features, apart from an article about the band, the track “These Tears Again†in the Zilloscope Sampler among international bands such as Pappa Roach, Filter, Soulfly, Dot Allison etc.
The band was ready for their next step.
They entered the studio with lots of new ideas but most of all: no guitar player.
The keyboard player George Bousounis and the dj/engineer George Ginnis came to their aid to record a musical manifesto called : “The Beat Syndicate†to be released on December 2004 after a whole year of recording sessions.
In the meantime, NEXUS were featured in the CD sampler of “Rock’n’Roll†magazine covering the John Barry classic track “The Persuadersâ€.
On December 14th 2004, “The Beat Syndicate†was released through Cyberdelia Records.
During May 2005, Pougounas, Sidheog and Spanos decided to put a stop until one day they would like to release some new Nexus material.
A year later, the three of them formed a punk/post punk band called New Zero God.
