'The Carruthers Brothers have been playing together since
before they picked up their first instruments, and now are both accomplished multi-instrumentalists performing professionally as session musicians. The Brothers are, Thomas (20), who plays Double Bass and Trombone, and Grant (18), who plays Alto and Tenor Saxophones, Guitar and occasionally picks up the bass when Tom has a solo on the bone, and their voices blend like only brothers voices can. The brothers have played in various big bands soloing with the likes of James Morrison, Ed Wilson and Galapagos Duck. They also perform regularly with vocalist Kayelene O'Sullivan with shows at various weddings and wine tastings culminating with a major performance at the Gold Coast Young Peoples Forum. Recently performing at the Brisbane Jazz Club, where they were billed as the 'Inimitable' Carruthers Brothers, their music has been described as a fun, entertaining mix of standards and originals. The Brothers are now performing with part time pianists and drummers becoming The Carruthers Brothers and Others (cheesy but the old ladies love it)'
