About Me
I was blessed with having a wonderful family. God has given me three beautiful children: USMC Cpl Dustin Lee, Madyson, and Camryn. We live in a small-town community which will pull together to help each other in times of need or just to express happiness. Being a teacher has enabled me to see all types of children, all in which need attention and love. I am married to a wonderful husband who is with a unit of the Highway Patrol and a MSGT of the Air National Guard. My family is truly the military family through many generations.
This profile has been dedicated to my son, Dus, who was killed 21 Mar 07 in OIF. He would have been 21 on April 7th. So needless to say the number 21 will always be a very special number, or day...He was the normal teen but grew to become a magnificent young man. His faith was very strong and was what guided him during everything. His dependable companion were his dogs, Doenja, a narcotic dog and Lex, his explosive dog. Yes, Dus was a Marine K9 Handler. Before Dus left he wanted us to adopt Doenja. The military was ready to retire him because of health. He and Lex were then deployed to Iraq where they were both injured at same time. Lex made it but Dus did not. Lex was very loyal to Dus and did not want to be removed from his side. We have now adopted, for the first time in military history a working MWD, our son's companion, Lex. I invite everyone to meet Dus on a blogspot created by Dustin's Uncle Brian. I was once asked, now that I am looking from another perspective, "What does Freedom mean to me?". Below is a poem that put my feelings together at the early time of being numb with so many unknown feelings. In dedication to my son, Dustin,I miss you sweetie, but I know you're home awaiting on me. God Bless Our Troops..our Freedom Givers..God Bless Our Heroes..."A Mother’s Renewed Freedom"On March 21, 2007, a mother’s life changed forever,
And tears fell down her cheek.
Her first born gave his life for her freedom,
And tears fell down her cheek.
She hit her knees to pray, "How could this be?",
And tears fell down her cheek.
Her pride for her country began to stray,
And tears fell down her cheek.
Memories of her son and soldier began to stir,
And tears fell down her cheek.
“Lord, remind me, why was he there?â€
And tears fell down her cheek.
A blanket of comfort wrapped around her,
And the tears dried.His voice spoke, "I need him for another mission, for he has been trained well.
He has shown commitment and self-determination of his individual will,
Coupled with concern for liberties of others and continued his service for Me.â€The foundation had been set and she began to remember:
The little boy that embellished Bible stories told by his grandmother and WWII stories told by his grandfather;
Within his strong hands the Bible he carried to study and the helmet he held admiring the strength of his fallen great-great uncle in Vietnam;
Little feet that carried him to the altar to accept Jesus Christ as his Savior; also, once wore military boots of his dad, grandfather and uncles, then wore his own;
One who prayed each day to receive strength to serve his Lord,
As well as, reminding himself of the oath he took as a United States Marine.She remembered the original feeling of pride, power and freedom that only intensified
As she watched a flag draped casket that cradled her first born emerge from a plane;
The mother’s pride of her country; then, took a new light.His voice spoke to her, "Continue to be strong,
For once you knew about freedom and liberty in which you have,
Now you will only grow because of what he and I have taught you."She began to notice all with a different sight,
A sight that comes from her heart filled with an overflowing amount of love for her country’s freedom and liberties.
A mother’s freedom renewed
Through God’s Light and her Fallen Hero, her son, Dusty.In memory of
