We all learn lessons in life, i've learnt my fair share. The biggest probibaly being: Don't give up something you love for anyone. I gave up DJing, but not my love for music.
My best mate (Nath AKA Reineke) got me back into mixing at the begginning of november 2006. When he turned up with his decks, vinyl (an assortment of Drum and Bass) and mixer to cheer me up. To start with it was hard, my mind was else where and i'd forgotten all i'd learnt years ago, before giving up.
That all changed one night in Febuary 2007 when Nath and I went back to Fat Barrys for an after party. We'd been to Romsey where Fat Barry, CQB and Terraformer along with others play at the Jah Freedom Drum and Bass party. Back at Baz's we had a B2B2B2B2B session live on UKBassRadio and my mixing was all pots and pans. I vowed the next time i played out with them, they'd be shocked.
Nath had the joys of a million questions from me, this time i was listening. A few weeks later Naths guidance along with Terraformer's, CQB's and Fat Barrys help it was all coming back.
Nath and I were approached by Kaysee and asked if we'd like a slot on AudioChemistry . It was our first step of playing out and we took it. Nath and I have been hosting a friday night show since the station went live. We have a laugh, get to drink and smoke without going outside and the tunes never fail to please.
What do I mix? Anything i can get my hands on really, The collection in the studio is quite vast, from House, Hard House and Break Beat to a huge amount of Drum and Bass, which is what i love to mix.
Had my first Club set in November thanks to Gareth and all the Kru @ Standby. Now I've had a sample of the pie I just want more.
Big ups to all the Friday night collective : DJ's Reineke(much luv bruv, it was the start of new things), Scripcha, HardNoize, Stompa and MC's Spookz, Beanie, Gibberish, HLF and Guests. In May we were asked to run a private party for a friend organising the dj's, Sound System and lighting. This is where and when the Friday night collective became the Hard Hittaz.
I finally started playing on www.ukbassradio.co.uk in july 2008, catch me there Sundays 9-11pm joined by some of the Hard Hittaz.
