I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am 31 years old, I live in a small town called Elgin in North East Scotland. My main interests are music and Psychology. Whilst working in a call centre for 6 years I studied for a Degree In Psychology with the Open University, much to my surprise I passed this with a good grade. I am now going down the counselling line and am studying towards a Diploma in Counselling at Moray College, I also do some voluntary Listening for a helpline in the UK. As far as music goes I do tinker around with a a few instruments, i own a guitar, tenor saxophone and keyboard which i can almost play ha ha. Mainly i listen to music and I love going to concerts all over the country but mostly in Glasgow and Aberdeen although I have been to concerts in Dublin, London and Prague. Dont know exactly how many Ive been to but its between 50 and 60 from the time i was around 18, now many moons ago. I also like to travel when i can, not in a back packer kind of way but on holiday...I love America, i have now been there twice namely to New York City and Madison WI where my friend Maria is from. I would describe myself as a pretty calm person, i like simple thngs in life such as walking, listening to music as i said, going to gym/fitness class, watching movies and seeing/speaking to friends. Im not a wild party animal, never have been, never will and although some people may find that and the fact i dont drink boring....I love my lifestyle and am happy in myself so whats the point in changing to suit others??? I have had a very varied background, after school i worked as an apprentice plumber which i quit shortly afer qualifying, probably for all the wrong reasons. I have also worked as a Postman, Garden Centre nursery labourer, Factory worker, Call centre agent and now Security guard. For 6 Months in 1999 I was a student Mental health nurse in Aberdeen but I left that course because I knew very quickly it wasnt what I wanted to do. Im still really glad i did it though cause it was a great experience and I met some great people along the way. At one time when I was unemployed I did a short Gym Instructor course with the YMCA in 1997 which I am quite proud of even though I have never worked as an insructor, it meant coming out of my comfort zone a bit and it still feels like a real achievment.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I do have a fascination with famous people, "real" famous people as i would say, not the whole celebrity thing. People who in my eyes have achieved greatness and have become well known in the process. I have people I admire from the music world and people who have studied the Mind. The people I admire also have something else, a kind of aura about them that cant really be explained. Im lucky enough to have met one of my all time favourite Musicains Curtis Stigers several times but id also love to meet Dr Oliver Sacks whos written a lot of fascinating books on his patients, Andrea Corr a singer i really admire, Michael Jackson who is a fascinating character to me, Michael Schumacher who i followed from the beginning. Sylvester Stallone is another definite, been watching his films ever since i can remember and he is an influence on me, so would be great to meet him. Theres many ,many more but they are the big ones.******************************************************* ****************************Below are some photos from my collection, the first lot are personal pictures of me, then some I took myself of Norah Jones in concert in Glasgow followed by photos from my trip to USA in 2007. There are also pictures of Curtis Stigers at the Nairn Jazz Festival in 2006.
