About Me

Bess is danceperformance by Moa Hanssen and Mirjam Klebel

CURRENT TOUR:

"Born in the 80s" by Bess. Dance: Moa Hanssen Choreography: Mirjam KlebelBORN IN THE 80s Danceperformance in nonsense-version with delayed meanings and ironic catches. A dancer is telling funny and heartbreaking stories about life and love and asks us what we need to know about her background. Its about timing, about being on the right place at the right moment…During the process Bess turned inside-out on a decade of politics, estetics and violence. Born in the 80..s. Born in the 80s is a danceperformance by Bess, a collaboration initiated year 2001 between the dancers and choreographers Moa Hanssen (Sweden) and Mirjam Klebel (Austria). This time Mirjam created a soloperformance for Moa.SMALL PRESENTATIONABOUT BESS: Bess is the artistic stagework that dancers and choreographers Moa Hanssen (SE) and Mirjam Klebel (A) create together since 2001. Bess has except for successful danceperformances through different residencies in Austria and Sweden also worked on a researchproject with Christine Kono and Dimitris Kraniotis (ex Pina Bausch Wuppertal). Bess collaborates for coming performances with Szene Salzburg/Austria, Tanzbüro/Austria, Tanzhouse/Austria, Norrlandsoperan/Sweden and Weld/Stockholm. Bess work is signified by absurdity, irony, humor, unconventional mix of techniques and a strong will to befall and affect. Bess is shamelessly uninterested in belonging to compartments and therefore loves to approach danceart in many different ways. In the center of the work is the body..s possibility of communication.Bess takes a strong interest in collaborative aspects and diversity of being. Since the start-up of Bess, now six years ago, we redefine our presence in the process anew for every production, installation or performative work. Til now we have never failed to do so, and with a hope to twosome we aim to continue this investigation even further. Hopefully a neverending road of possibilities. The word BESS is also something of strong historical and philosophical meaning which we are at the moment writing specific texts about. That since we feel there is some need of clarifications after these six year, aswell as of the planning of our next work for 2008:"Furniture" (the re-storement piece)and"Waiting for Jesus" (full-evening work in, of course, three parts)MOA HANSSENMoa Hanssen works as a dancer and choreographer based in Stockholm and is educated at SEAD in Austria and TISCH, New York University.
