Name: My birth name is Andréa Yamamoto, but I prefer Ematrice or Emma Aroun.Voice type: Soprano/Mezzo-soprano (not quite certain which yet though I seem to be leaning toward mezzo colouratura)Well, when I was three, I told my parents that I "saw myself on stage in a big, pretty dress, holding a microphone." I think that was when I started to see myself as a singer (besides singing "The Little Mermaid" songs in the bathtub). As I got older, the singing "addiction" became more prominent. I was singing at school, at church, at home - anywhere I could, really. I started to become more aware of the fact that singing and music in general was doing its part in taking over my life. I started singing lessons when I was 8 and did my first audition when I was 9, singing "Far From the Home I Love" from "Fiddler on the Roof." After nearly three years of studying with Robyn Frey-Monell, and four years with Linda Leyrer-Furumoto, a professor at Cal State Fullerton, I'm currently taking lessons with Shira Renee Thomas, of the Center Stage Opera Company.
