About Me

Donna grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkel, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin, Emmylou Harris, etc. She moved to Chicago in the late 80's & befriended the crowd from the 70's Chicago folk era, playing occaisonally at Earl's Pub (of the Earl of Old Town) and later at the same venue when it became the revived "Somebody Else's Troubles" from 2002 - 2006, hosted by Tom Dundee. The 70's folk influences can be heard in her music which contain descriptive, story telling-like lyrics, and a vocal style that is often compared to Joni Mitchell or Judy Collins.Donna has performed frequently at the Uncommon Ground Coffehouse, and has a song on their compilation CD "Live at the Uncommon Ground, Volume I". She participated in the first few Jeff Buckley tribute concerts. She's performed at Schuba's, Bill's Blues, the Fox Valley Folk Festival, Two Way Street Coffeehouse, Charlie's Coffehouse & The Heartland Cafe. From 1989 - 1991, Donna played guitar & sang backup in the rock band, "The Art Thieves," fronted by John Kimsey. In the late 90s, she wrote songs for Green Light Performing Company, a children's theater group headed by Domenick Danza. Her song "Invisible Light" was performed by the Company at The Adler Planetarium (no relation). She also desiged the music soundtrack for Paula Kamen's play "Seven Dates with Seven Writers."Donna has released three CDs of original material, "All the Riches of the World", "Alta Vista Sky", and most recently "Violets and Blues", recorded in Nashville. Violets and Blues has received airplay on Folk Radio stations across the country, and appeared on the Top Albums list for Folk Radio 2008.Donna most recently collaborated with John Ludwig of the Chicago Songwriters Collective on his song "Demon of Doubt" which appears in the background of the Robert Alaniz film "The Vision."She is traveling back and forth to Nashville again, working on some new recordings by songwriters from Chicago, including Chris Farrell, Tom Dundee & Mark Dvorak.
