About Me

fUNKYbret - a household name at this point. An institution of funk, drums, funky drums, and drunkey frums. Wait, what?Ok, that was stupid. fUNKYbret is real, though. Whether it's playing the drums or bass, noodling on the keys, growling on the mic, or manning the controls and pressing record, fB can hang. Years of experience (indicated by rows of notches on his belt) on stage and in the studio have molded fB in to the versatile Bret-of-all-trades that you witness today. He's drummed with Copper John, The Wellness Authority, The Jonx, CTRL+ALT+DEL, Combo Nation, Quattro Loco, Quantum Vudu, and the Denver Funk Mob just to name a few. Currently he's bangin' with the DuoTrioQuartet (name change pending?) and there are several new jams in the works, as always. When it comes to pressing record, few do it more often than fB. Whether it's recording basement jams, the big show at the Fox, or steath recording anonymously, fB is carefully in control. Currently fB is the touring archivist for Porter Batiste Stoltz (PBS) and Bonerama, two fUNKY bands out of NOLA. Check out COtapers.org for some of the most recent live recordings, although some pop up at bt.etree.org as well. Lots of stuff can also be found on archive.org. fB has recordings of PBS, Bonerama, Umphrey's McGee, Lotus, TWA, Denver Funk Mob, and Green Lemon up there, just to name a few. Try searching for "fUNKYbret" and some will pop up.Check back, this thing is just getting going. The blog will house jam and show reviews as they happen. New songs will be posted featuring recent collaborations, studio jams, shows, and more. Please offer your feedback, it's essential to the creation process.Word
