Louisiana Washboard Five is a classic jazzband from Bergen/Norway. Established in 1997 the band has specialized on jazz music from the late 20´s - often referred to as South Side Chicago-style. Their effort to bring new life in to this music is documented with three CDs: Doctor Jazz (1997), Ace of Rhythm (2000) and Futuristic Rhythm (2004). The first two was presented by Herman Records and the last one came on Stomp Off Records.
Since 1997, LWF has appeared on several international jazzfestival, include Bude Jazz Festival (England), Keswick Jazzfestival (England), Whitley Bay International Jazzfestival (England), Molde International Jazzfestival (Norway), Oslo Jazzfestival (Norway), Sildajazz (Norway) and Riverboat Jazzfestival (Denmark).
Keith Nichols (England) and Matthias Seuffert (Germany) have been participating with LWF on both festivals and CDs. Other international musicians who have been sitting in with the band are Cynthia Sayer (USA), Norman Field (England), Scott Robinson (USA), Jim Fryer (USA), Bent Persson (Sweden), Mike Pointon (England), Thomas "Spats" Langham (England), James Dapogny (USA) and Robert Fowler (England).
