About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4Celtis developed out of a shared passion for Irish traditional music typified by a combination of reels, jigs and hornpipes. As well as the Irish traditional standards, Celtis also perform Scottish and Breton pieces and more contemporary arrangements and a number of their own compositions.Celtis has performed in Gauteng and locally in Pietermaritzburg and Durban at folk clubs and music venues and has appeared at music festivals, notably the White Mountain Folk Music Festival 2007, Splashy Fen 2006 and before that at the Emoyeni and uMthombe Kei Mouth Music Festivals.Anton Cawthorn-Blazeby plays violin and was a member of Landscape Prayers for nine years releasing four acclaimed albums. Since 2003 Ant has freelanced, working with a number of different projects and artists, notably, World in a Guitar, Butter with Roly Struckmeyer, and the Ha!Man, Francois le Roux. He has also featured in the Durban International Blues Festival and has worked as an extra player with the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra (KZNPO) as well as being the concert master for the Durban City Orchestra.Keri Povall, plays the flute and whistle. She has a classical flute performance degree summa cum laude and has worked as an extra player with the KZNPO and performed in Opera Africa, and in Howard College and Tatham Art Gallery Ensemble Lunch Hour Concerts.Ron Uken plays guitar and bodhran, an Irish frame drum and works as a lecturer in Geology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.Fiona Grayer is a full time cellist with the KZNPO. Before moving to Durban in 2004, she graduated with a B Mus (Performance) from the University of Cape Town. She has taught extensively at schools and music development projects in Cape Town and Durban and is involved with training the junior members of the KZN Youth Orchestra. She was a member of the Cape Town Six Celli Ensemble, Igrandi Violoncellisti, which, inter alia, performed with great success at the Grahamstown Festival in 2002 and 2004. Fiona is currently a member of Durban’s Baroque 2000 ensemble. Fiona is also a qualified Occupational Therapist.
