About Me


Cereal Wednesday began as a complete and total goof. Yes, there is no seriousness behind Cereal Wednesday... except perhaps its seriousness. It started with a comment from Miss Ann Thrope when I was wondering if my writing was interesting. Her words of wisdom were:
You could write about Breakfast Cereal Box Wednesday and I'd still come by to see what you thing of Sugar Smacks, the games and the guar gum.
Needless to say, I took her suggestion and started to work on doing just that. Originally I was going to write cereal reviews. Then while sitting there I realized that just writing about cereal wasn't going to be enough. I needed to SHOW myself eating the cereal... and the most copious amounts possible. We are afterall a very visual society as the declining level of literacy amongst children indicates, and therefore I figured this would be the way to do something different. Of course, the fact that I also majored in Film in college kind of helped a little in figuring out how to do it.
My inspiration for the format? Roger Ebert. Plain and simply put, he would review every movie from Gone With The Wind to Chicken Little with the same level of seriousness. He was a professional reviewer, and so that's what I wanted to do. Of course... I've had my moments.
Cereal Wednesday indeed has almost taken on a life of its own and in its own small way... becoming an internet phenomenon. The major Cereal Companies probably remain ignorant to its existence, and perhaps my plea for more toys will go unheard. Chances are though, that somewhere, someone is about to eat a bowl of cereal. The possibility remains that they may very well have made their choice based on what I said on any given Wednesday.
