After disbanning the award winning, 1 gold albulm acheived, country group SEQUOIA,(originally formed in Denver, CO) in 1996, RANDY SMITH swore he would never tour or put out another CD. Now, after 10 years of battling cancer, 26 surgeries and fighting the addiction to pain pills caused by all the surgeries, he is back, stonger and better than ever and finally dusting off his instruments and playing again. The new cd is a compilation of songs written and recorded over the last six years. The band is comprised of mainly Austin, Texas musicians (Randy and his wife live outside San Antonio) including best friend from childhood, CHRIS BLADES on drums. "Chris and I had our first band together, BLADESMITH, and even got our college scholorships together and played all through high school and college together almost 24/7" Randy continued by sharing that, "after college we got kicked out of many apartments for playing loud all night." The pair split in the late 80's with Chris heading to Austin and the Rock scene and Randy off to Nashville for the Country thang. CHRIS BLADES has also been playing with Austin Cow Punk Rockers, The Quick and the Dead. Joining the line up is a Austin favorite ..boards, EZRA REYNOLDS formaly of Breed Love and currently performing with The Jazzus Lizard. Another Austin favorite, from Peter Elliott and the Sell Outs, PETER ELLIOTT on bass and vocals. Finalizing the band on guitar is CHRIS PEREZ who has been playing the last four years with Chris Blades in another Austin rock band, DREAMSTATE. Everyones unique musical backgrounds help lend to the blend of Randy's distinct sound.
