Studied visual arts at António Arroio School; scholarship at the dance school Rui Horta/Pró.Dança, Lisbon. Bachelors on Dance Theatre Performance by the Netherlands Institut for the Arts, Holland.
Works: the trio performance installation for a site specific “magmatic” and the solo work “trajectórias”, 1999 and 2000. The trio “Um estado provisório” and the duet “Persona”, 2003. The solo works “O que fazer com o corpo” and “representações”, 2004 and 2005.
End of 2006 presented the diptych solo works “framework” and “Fame”.
November 2008 premiered the solo “entre vistas” and, related to the same project, inaugurated the instalation "peripathetics".

At present time Mário Afonso is researching for is new project "ZOO".
