***************STEPS FOR CHANGE**************************** ___________________________________________________________ 1) Take one step at a time: be patient, look, listen, keep moving, don’t get discouraged. You will achieve your goals one day at a time. Do the best you can, enjoy this day and rest satisfied with what you HAVE accomplished. ___________________________________________________________ 2) Value yourself. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, you will be able to move forward with strength, courage and confidence. Never allow anyone to rain on your parade. Nothing external can have any power over you unless you permit it. Your time is too precious to be sacrificed in wasted days combating the menial forces of hate, jealousy and envy. Do not worry about what others think of you. It is of prime importance, however, what YOU think about you. ___________________________________________________________ 3) Accept your mistakes; we move from VICTIM or FAILURE when we let go of our mistakes and the mistakes of others who have hurt us. Be hard pressed but not frustrated, be persecuted but never despair, be knocked down but never out. ___________________________________________________________ 4) Don’t let bitterness, lack of forgiveness or self pity eat away at your roots and weaken them. Do not allow pains, hurdles and handicaps to poison your attitude. ___________________________________________________________ 5) Never take yourself too seriously. Laugh at yourself and life. It will ease your pain, cure your depression and help you to put in perspective that seemingly terrible defeat. Banish tension and concern and worry with laughter at your predicaments, thus freeing your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come. ___________________________________________________________ 6) Look at problems as opportunities: problems are inevitable. Reevaluate, but don’t turn back or give up. It all depends upon our perspective and you have a choice. You can look on the gloomy side or you can focus on the bright things and leave the dark, ominous situations. Be a self starter. Confront each opportunity with hope. ___________________________________________________________ 7) Leave the past in the past. You can do nothing about yesterday and last month and the failures of last year, but you can do everything toward making tomorrow and the rest of your life what you have always dreamed it could be. ___________________________________________________________ 8) Don’t put off joy; seek out what makes you happy (smell the flowers, go to and art museum, take a walk- exercise is a great stress reducer, look at everyday life- the sunrise, a new baby, the wonders in nature) ___________________________________________________________ 9) Realize that true happiness lies within YOU. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. ___________________________________________________________ HOPE MEANS TO KEEP LIVINGAMID DESPERATION, AND TO KEEP HUMMING IN THE DARKNESS. HOPE IS KNOWING THAT THERE IS LOVE; IT IS TRUST IN TOMORROW; IT IS FALLING ASLEEP AND WAKING AGAIN WHEN THE SUN RISES. IN THE MIDST OF A GALE AT SEA, IT IS TO DISCOVER LAND. IN THE EYES OF ANOTHER, IT IS TO SEE THAT HE OR SHE UNDERSTANDS YOU.
