Twitch

my name is John Philip Welford aka "TWITCH" - I first began my days in Fylingthorpe primary, some awesome years. Eskdale secondary school, Whitby community college and now Teesside University. I've lived in Robin Hoods Bay all my life with my dad and moved around to other places with my mum. I have 3 step sisters, helen, sarah and Anne. I'm the youngest, helen is now living in Australia with her husband and i've just become an uncle this christmas. Jasper was just born on the 22nd dec. Sarah and Wilf (husband) just spent all there money by going on a trip around the world and now living in Thirsk. Anne is the elder at 32 who lives in Newcastle. Through the summer holidays i've worked at Boat house bistro, which was the worst job ever, i always stank of fish after work. But the last two summers i worked at the (YHA) Youth Hostel, which was pretty cool, because the hostel is on the beach. I would only work from 7am to 12:30pm, then surf the rest of the day with my bro's. Before I got intrested into surfing, i lived on a off road centre where i used to race quads and motocross, but couldn'y afford to go pro. So when i take my colley dog (meg) out for a walk i would go diving in my shorts in the north sea, "i didn't know about wetsuits at that time". Then one day when i was shallow diving i saw two surfers on the local break, but what they were doing was amazing. So a few months down the line i bought 6.6 short board, not realizing this size is for experts. So after school each day i would come home on the bus and then run get my gear and the board. Then jump on the bus back too Whitby and then hike all the way to Sandsend. Then dump all my clothes under a rock and then hed back home on the bus. One memory from when i couldn't stand up properly on a stick was one day when one of mates Dave came for a surf, but was on a body board. It was only 4-5ft on the back of the waves (double size on front). It was only us two out and this rougue set of waves came in and got one wave that ended up to be a straight hander. Dave dropped into the next wave but wiped out, the only bad thing was that he got held down for 2 or 3 waves straight on his head. Luckely he stumbled out of the sea ok. I don't know how long i've been surfing, but i stuck with it and just keep drawing lines on water with my quiver of sticks (surfboards). Now i'm in the universities surf team and just free surf most of the time, amongst all the uni work that has to be done.
