The whole story started at a coffee bar in Prishtina, the capital of Kosovo. Sometime in summer 2005, over-influenced by good music, Gillespie is founded by Sexha (drums) and Isa (bass). In few days Guri (guitar) joins. It all started with few simple guitar, bass and drums lines and it ended up with a merge of these lines and the making of a very interesting noise and music. Winter passed by in the basement of the Sports and Youth Center in Prishtina, Kosovo and despite the cold this merging and the sweating continued. Right after the winter Blerta came in as vocals and finally the whole thing was there and the songs were being finalized. After few live appearances the band went on a studio to record the first album called “Nje dite e zakonshme†(An ordinary day). After all the discussions, questions and answers the band decided to record the album live which seemed like the best way to show our true feelings and the connection to music to the audience – this to make the audience feel the fun and the happiness that the band members had inside the studio during the recording. The album was recorded in approximately an hour at ‘Llampat’ (The Lamps) studio and it was supported by Dritero and Visar ..boards. The album was edited and the CD’s were multiplied by Ginger Embargo – Music and Films that Matter. The band had the biggest gig ever at Room Boom Boom for the promotion of the album. The journey continued with the editing and publishing of the video clip of the song ‘Luledielli’ (Sunflower) (thanks to Visar, Genc and Gjisi) and the preparations for the new clip started (thanks to Skender). Gillespie takes a break and then re-starts with new gigs at private and other parties. Gillespie takes part in the ‘Jam for Cow’ event. Gillespie continues with a very energetic, alternative and noisy appearance, firstly to experience self-satisfaction and then to give the same satisfaction to other with similar musical preferences.
