About Me

I have been playing the guitar and writing songs for 11 years. For my sixteenth birthday I was given some money from my grandparents and did not know what to spend the money on. My father suggested that I buy a guitar and I did just that. It was a really nasty guitar which was extremely difficult to play. I persavered with it and learned from books, magazines, by ear (from my influences) and by jamming with friends. (I feel many people sharing my boat would claim to be self taught)When I was asked to leave the family home when I was eighteen, I found that the guitar was the best vent for my anger and pain and as I later discovered, was another way to show others how happy I was too. "Sorry" was written to release my feeling of anger and guilt after I left the family home.I now get on very well with my parents and have started a young family of my own. I often co-write songs with my father. One of which is called "Problems". I have been praised by the (at that time) First minister for Scotland Jack McConnell for my performance of "Problems" during a Princes Trust Celebrate Success awards ceremony. I performed the show with a fellow songwriter called Darren Foy who sadly died last year. When writing songs, I aim to create new songs and music which not only has an original flavor, but has a piece of my heart in it too. I try to keep the lyrics powerful and meaningful in their storytelling. I often write from personal experiences and sometimes put myself in the shoes of others to enable me to write from another perspective. At the moment I balance a healthy family life with work and the focus on my music had reduced for a while. I have added songs to Myspace so I can regain my focus and develop my ideas and grow as an artist. I will write / co-write, perform, record and upload more and more songs that are original and of course, will add details to my blog when I can.I already have a good collection of songs and I grow more confident in the quality of my home recordings. Before long I aim to make a living out of my music. I do not chase fame or fortune, but an enjoyable, comfortable future. If you've stopped by my page, please feel free to leave a comment / message about my music.
