Gli Hellsteps si formano nell’ inverno del 2006 dall’ incontro di Lord of war e Lord Arhald ( già ATHANOR ) e Dienece e Astaroth ( già FALLEN BLOOD ). La line up ( con Dienece alla voce, Lord of war e Astaroth alle chitarre e Lord Arhald alla batteria ) si solidifica con l’ arrivo di Beliar al basso iniziando a comporre materiale destinato al mini – cd di esordio. La musica proposta dal gruppo mette subito in risalto le diverse influenze musicali dei componenti, risultando una fusione di vari generi ( dal black, al death, al thrash, all’ heavy metal classico ) che allo stesso tempo rivela un sound originale ed innovativo: nebbioso, malinconico ma allo stesso tempo tagliente e raffinato. Le tematiche delle canzoni trattano ambiti quali : storia antica, culti e leggende del passato, toccando anche le sfere emotive dei componenti. Nel settembre del 2007 la band inizia la registrazione del mini-cd che vedra la luce nel 2008,il lavoro è interamente autoprodotto. La band mantiene comunque il suo punto di forza nelle esecuzioni live esibendosi in festival e locali sul territorio italiano. Nell’estate del 2008, a registrazione conclusa, Beliar decide di abbandonare il gruppo. Gli HELLSTEPS continuano a portare avanti il loro progetto integrando nella band il nuovo componente bassista Darktears (già FALLEN BLOOD), che contribuisce alla stesura dei nuovi brani apportando ulteriore originalità al sound. This line up (with Dienece-voice, Lord of war and Astaroth-guitars and Lord Arhald-drums) completes itself with the arrival of Beliar on bass and begins writing songs which will be recorded on the debut cd. The music proposed underlines the different musical attitudes of its components, resulting in a mixture of various genres (from black to death, thrash and classic heavy metal), however it reveals an original and innovative sound: misty, melancholic and, at the same time, sharp and refined. The themes of the songs deal with such topics as: ancient history, cults and legends from the past and they are influenced by the personal feelings of its components. In September 2007 the band begins the recording of the cd that will be ready in 2008; this work is totally self produced. The band expresses at its best, however, in its live performances at festivals and music clubs all along Italy. In summer 2008, when the recording was already finished, Beliar decided to leave the band. HELLSTEPS go on with their project including a new bass-member, Darktears (FALLEN BLOOD) who contributes to the draft of new songs, bringing farther originality to the sound. The band’s aim is to spread its own music keeping on working on its compositions and live performances, aiming at a concrete realization of its works.
