About Me

'Beat the Knave' is Trevoracious, an Irishman living in Toulouse, France since 2001. 'Beat the Knave' is inspired by a well-known children's nursery rhyme, the knave being a cheeky little thief that steals tarts from the King and is therefore beaten "full sore" for his troubles, in an effort to show him the 'right' way (whatever that may be). The theme, so far, is based on guilt, redemption and moving away from the 'wrong', (whatever that may be!). Leaving poorer moments in the past where they belong and moving forward with a head held high and a swashbuckling smile. I write songs with very basic means (a 5 buck microphone and a dodgy soundcard), everything, including musical thievery! hah! I was not having much luck in getting a band together or finding musicians to take things to the 'next level'... so I gave up and committed to working on ideas by myself. It's started to pay off. When left to my own devices, I found myself creating more frequently instead of waiting for the perfect band to encourage that process. My music sounded somewhat sinister at first though I find that it's becoming more hopeful and tongue-in-cheek as time goes by. I suppose I'm taking the good with the bad these days. ;o) I was lucky enough to cross paths with some very talented composers/producers over the last year (Andrew Richards from Uniform Motion and Kat Cross) who heard promise in my lo-fi recordings. Both Andy and Kat are currently helping me to reanimate some of these songs which, at first, were promising bones but are now developing and becoming fleshy... and very attractive indeed! I hope to have a collection of these songs produced to a listenable degree over the coming months, after which I will seek out world domination. I am also soon to help Andrew for live work with Uniform Motion. Stay Tuned.

It is wonderful to be in touch with such wonderful and talented people bringing me out of obscurity. Kat Cross is currently helping me produce another song. She will sing with me on it too. ...
