Make voyages! Attempt them! there's nothing else

About Me

I'm a wandering California girl (and California knows how to party), moved back home this year from Singapore via a short year and a half in Hawaii. Love food, drink, traveling to far off places, furry animals, singing, dancing and reallyreallyreally tall sailors (ex-sailors?) Outside is better than inside; I love to buy shoes but would rather walk barefoot...voraciously read modern sci fi and adventure novels...the whopper is the best burger ever created, strawberry shakes from in'n'out rock, and spam really isn't that bad. The greatest things about Asia were I could eat as much curry as I wanted, clubs stayed open all night, taxis were really cheap, and Hong Kong rocks; the greatest thing about Hawaii was that my sailor was there with me, pineapple, and the fish is really fresh! Now I'm officially an East-Bay-er (Bay-ite?), and enjoying the commute to better weather across the bridge each night. Custom Contact Tables

My Interests

i love food (eating and cooking), books, music, travel; napping, camping; napping while camping; eating while camping (hot dogs and marshmallows!), eating while pretty much doing anything, scrabble and the crossword puzzle (i'm your basic out-of-the closet dork, but i'll kick your ass at scrabble). i think my bf is SMOKIN hot, and i love girlie things like facials and mani/pedis and anything that comes in a little blue box.

Music:

one of my true simple pleasures, music changes with my mood; on any given day i can be sick of one thing and turned on by another. i can admit to being a true child of the 80's. i like stuff i can sing along with, or anything with a sexy beat. pop, rock, jazz, house, hip-hop, rap, opera, showtunes...broad terms, i know. and though i appreciate the poetry of lyrics, if there's no melody or no beat, it's hard for me to feel it.

Movies:

clueless. the usual suspects. memento. anything by john hughes. dirty dancing - nobody puts baby in a corner. the first matrix. the shawshank redemption. anything with brad pitt in it; i'm not perving, he just hasn't made a bad movie. the one with jet li. love actually. the man in the iron mask. anything with jason statham; this time i am perving, he's unbelievably hot, although not as hot as the bf. all the disney movies, up to aladdin. supertroopers, dazed and confused, dude where's my car - i don't smoke, stoner movies just crack me up. madagascar, because i like to move it move it. the first and third indiana jones movies. pulp fiction. lock stock and snatch - i realize these are covered by the brad/jason comments, but worth mentioning on their own. the entire star wars collection. zoolander. the old road movies with bob hope and bing crosby, and anything with audrey hepburn, fred astaire, or gene kelly.

Television:

HEROES ROCKS! I love Hiro! Also John Stewart and Steven Colbert. Any Food Network show with Alton Brown. Man vs. Wild, Deadliest Catch, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters! Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends on Cartoon Network. da ali g show ("but, what i's really wants to aks you is, is it eva wurf it to go to war ova a sanwich?") American Idol, Top Chef, Project Runway, SYTYCD. i unabashedly and whole-heartedly blame joy and trip for my minor fascination with reality tv.

Books:

I'm really into Michael Moore right now...and anything by Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy, Clive Cussler; early Michael Crichton (when he was still writing his own books). Jasper Fforde is brilliant and funny. Tom Robbins is brilliant and wierd. William Gibson is iconic. Laurell K. Hamilton is pure smut but her heroines kick ass and the books are filled with wierd sex and graphic violence. Harry Potter! Shakespeare rocks, but I really only have the patience for the comedies these days. i just started in on Robert Rankin - i really liked the hollow chocolate bunnies of the apocolypse.

Heroes:

Hiro Nakamura, Nathan Petrelli, Peter Petrelli, et. al.
