About Me

GidovanGent's Biography Born in Ghent (what did you think), somewhere in february, in the 60ties. Son of a Baker. First Guitar @ 17. Neil Young.Curiosity for real life can't be tempered @ school. Globetrotter since he's 18. His peaceful life in a southern village inspires him to paint his travel-experiences in a quite figurative, realistic manner. Innocent, and espessially colourful.Carpe diem.Lives on his own @ fairly young age and suddenly becomes aware that you can't eat dew drops. Enter : Gido discovers the world of sales, as an account manager. The romance of a modern cowboy with a company car, sent to the streets, looking for new adventures.(Intermezzo : house, garden, tie, dinners, woman and cars)After the break with his girlfriend he 'puts a sock in it', and explores the world for years. And writes. After his roaming period, Gido discovers his city of birth again. All inspiration and experience learned melt into place when he re-discovers that beautiful and warm language; het Gentsch. Gets into contact with fellow-citizen & producer dirk Blanchart, together they dive into the recordingstudio. The result is the debut-album ‘GidovanGent’. Genuine texts (in Gentsch) where love & pain & humor & melancholy walk together. A unique variation within the rich folk & roots-tradition from the talented singer-songwriter. 10 songs of his own and 3 covers (including the first single 'Mayuko', a free interpretation of Hank Williams' 'Kaw-liga' from 1952).Een beetsje liefde een beetsje lust en een appelken veur den dust Een beetsje vrijheid en veel vertrewwen om de kirke in 't midden 't ewwen En ze zee : 't Leven ...'t leven...ja 't leven es nemen en geven (from ‘Nemen en geven’, GidovanGent)Cd : ‘GidovanGent’ / GidovanGent (HKM 42127) Distribution & promo : Roadrunner Arcade Music
