Born in Montreal on April 10 1979, Natasha’s love for the performing arts blossoms at an early age. Ballet jazz, piano, choir, tap dancing, theatre, she touches and explores everything.
Musicals in high school, Cegep studies in acting (Cégep Saint-Laurent), and vocal jazz (Cégep Marie-Victorin), acting companies, university studies in a jazz specialized Bachelor program (Concordia University)
Following this scholastic upbringing, she then decides to devote her solo career to jazz music. However, instead of narrowing her horizons to solely becoming a performer, she also finds interest in working as a producer, arranger and musical directors for various musical projects.
She creates and directs her own jazz Tri-O (vocals, piano, double bass) in 2005 and performs in various Montreal venues. The Tri-O explores different variants such as swing, blues, bebop and bossa nova, while always bringing to the forefront the ultimate style of expression inhabited by jazz: improvisation. Vocal improvisation, commonly referred to as scat, holds a crucial place in Natasha’s musical philosophy.
2005 also sees the birth of her own production company: The Instinctive Productions.
2006 constitutes a turning point in Natasha’s career. On February 7th, hundreds of people mass up in the Lion d’Or to witness the Natasha P Tri-O performing live for the recording of their first album. The eponym album, expected to come out in the spring of 2009, is eagerly awaited by Natasha’s fans and Montreal’s jazz music aficionados.
Nowadays, Natasha works as a vocal coach on various plays and musicals. The strong professional relationship she continues to share with the stage director Geneviève L-Blais (Théâtre à Corps Perdus) with whom she collaborated with for the show Blanc, presented at the Salle Fred-Barry of the Théâtre Denise Pelletier in January 2008, is a testimony of her implication and love for the performing arts.
Natasha’s professional life is continuously filled with new creative projects and the year 2009 promises to be as fruitful as the lasts, with the upcoming release of her first album in the spring and her plans of going on a summer tour throughout Quebec.
