I am here for Friends

About Me

i'm cuban. i love corn. that will never change. everything else "about me" seems to be in a state of flux right now. currently, my energies are spent growing TWO BABIES and re-creating myself as a self-employed spanish teacher/personal assistant. it's fantastic. i recommend it to anyone who is miserable in their current job and has just a few good skills and a lot of tenacity. if you're lucky enough to be pregnant, you can even get on medicaid and not have to worry about living life in this dangerous world without medical insurance. i am more broke than i've been since college, but i am also happier than i ever remember being. some of that has to do with my husband, another bit has to do with my blooming belly, and the rest of it has to do with my newfound freedom. most days, i can go swimming wherever and however i feel like it. i can take naps as needed. i can spend as much or as little time as i want on the computer. basically, i can do whatever i want....until october. then everything will change all over again.

My Interests

latin american literature, days off, road trips, shows on bugs and sea creatures, my dog's vocabulary, other countries, singing loudly to bad r&b songs on 105.9, the lifestyles of the rich and famous, how to stop sallie mae from sucking me dry, how to win the lottery without ever having played.

I'd like to meet:

isabel and emmanuel: the little hearts that beat inside my belly(here they are, one year old. i guess it's time to update my profile).

Music:

i just wanna hear a good beat.

Television:

american dad and king of the hill.

Books:

one hundred years of solitude (ggm) and hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world (haruki murakami) are the best books ever written. period.

Heroes:

my grandmother, my mom, and my sister. long live the matriarchy.

the red tent

Now that my babes take actual naps and go to sleep at a decent hour, I have been able to read again. It's a win-win situation because Jeremy gets to watch TV guiltlessly, and I still feel like we're ...
