“THE VISION” IN 1994 Jeri “J.B” Boykin Edwards was called to minister to the addicted, homeless, depressed, HIV/AIDS inflicted, and discourage in the Houston area. God gave her a vision to provide food, shelter and clothing as well as education and training. This vision has become a reality, which is the purpose of this brochure. In Action Shelter has been running 13 years strong without any government assistance or united way funding. Donations such as yours have allowed us to help those who would otherwise be forgotten! She has faithfully committed her life to the vision God gave her by helping thousands of God’s people!Now you can become a part of this vision by joining in the One In A Million Partnership/Friends of in Action. The one in a million partnership is where we are asking one million caring citizen to donate just one dollar to the expansion of this ministery.“MISSION STATEMENT” We are committed to offering a structure living environment that provides a holistic support system to individuals regardless of age, race, creed, or color. While making the transition from a life of addiction and self-sabotage to a new life of freedom, peace, love, joy, and happiness. We promise to offer each person assistance in the form of spiritual growth and support, along with computer training and interviewing skills. We also provide the basic needs for survival. We are dedicated to equipping every individual with the knowledge and power necessary to return to society as a productive and independent citizen. LET US BEGIN TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO WHAT JESUS DID…SHOW COMPASSION AND LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER BY THINKING OF SOMEONE OTHER THAN OURSELVES!“ BEYOND THE ADDICTION ” J.B.’S TESTIMONY To know J.B. Boykin-Edwards is to witness the power of black spirituality. Her life experiences serve as both a powerful testimony of what faith in god will do if you just believe. It also shows how powerful addiction can afflict you and those closest to you. From her severe seven year demise with a crack/cocaine addiction to her rise on the wings of the spirit after being save by Jesus Christ, her powerful story is ripe with compelling message of our community. Through vivid, life altering and supernatural conversation and experience with God that occurred in the back seat of a car, she exchange a life of addiction for a life of freedom. Although many of us struggle with the painful reality of a friend or a family member’s. Continuing addition, there is hope after all. Today, a mother of four, grandmother 13, and great grandmother of a growing number gives us all reason to hope and believe.
