The competition is split into four categories: fashion design, graphic design, product design and textile design.
The FASHION DESIGN category is sponsored by the hottest current value retailer Peacocks.The prize will be:
- Design Wales will award the Fashion Design category winner £1000
- A paid work placement within Peacocks
- Peacocks will manufacture key pieces from the winning collection. Royalties from the sale of the selected items will be awarded to the designer ---------------------- This year there are two GRAPHIC DESIGN briefs. Rough Trade records is supporting our illustration led brief.
The prize will be:
- Design Wales will award the winner of the Graphic Design Rough Trade category a prize of £1000
- The winner will also receive one weeks (unpaid)work experience at Rough Trade records HQ in London
- Tickets to gigs performed by Rough Trade artists in the winner’s home area
- A bumper box of Rough Trade CDs and merchandising

The prize will be:
- Design Wales will award the winner of the Graphic Design HBOS category a prize of £1000
- A two-week work placement with Elevator design, Cardiff to turn the winning designs into print-ready artwork and work on development of campaign materials

The prize will be:
- Design Wales will award the winner of the Product Design category a prize of £1000
- The winner will also receive £250 worth of Gelert products
---------------------- The TEXTILE DESIGN category is being sponsored by design led Swedish retailer IKEA.
The prize will be:
- Design Wales will award the Textiles Design category winner £1000.
- The winning entry will be exhibited at the IKEA Cardiff store
