The Kelvins are an original rock band from Hartford, Connecticut. From January of 2000 through summer of 2004, we were a 4-piece band who kicked a bit O' ass and had a lot O' fun. Our sound was straight-ahead rock that nods to classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin and The Beatles with a soaking in modern rock angst. It's toned down a bit now, thanks in no small part to The influence of new guitar player Eric Groenstein. Sprinkle in some Oasis, BRMC and Radiohead and you're closer to our new sound.
We are not: retro, glam, metal [nu or old], punk, ska, or any other little box you can offer; nor are we aging, pot-bellied rockers trying to recapture glories past (well, I'm aging a bit, but fit as a fiddle).
Below is a vid of the band shot by Daniel Salazar III in 2003.

we've re-formed with 3/4 of the original lineup, and with the addition of afore-mentioned guitarist Eric Groenstein. We're writing new songs, re-working old ones, and just debuted the new material at our first gig (at Sully's on August 30th).
It's worth noting that (and offering up a shout out to) Doug Wimbish (Bass player extrordinaire) played a huge role in getting The Kelvins into the recording studio and on some big stages. We wouldn't have been the band we were with out him. As long as I'm at it, props to producer Fran Flannery and engineer/mixologist Andy Stackpole for their extrordinary efforts as well.
