It was the December of 2006 when the life of Finally Got Tom began. Close friends, and then fellow band members of a local swing band, James Mountain, Chris Cullen, and Matt Chandler decided it was time to get together to make some music as a trio. After a couple of months of jamming the trio decided it was time for a new face. However this wasn't as easy as they had anticipated. After several weeks of trying to convince the band's future guitarist, Thomas Bennett, to come and join the trio, the deal was sealed in February of 2007. It was at this point the band's name "Finally Got Tom", was instantly decided upon. The original trio of James, Chris, and Matt, were so relieved to have clinched the thrilling and exciting skills of Tom, that their previous name of "Project 13" was scrapped, and from that moment "FGT" was born.Since that moment the journey has been magnificent. The foursome have gigged at numerous places across Kirklees and West Yorkshire, never failing to bring a big crowd of truly amazing supporters of the band. The band have had some memorable experiences, most significantly playing along side local favourites "Broken Angel", on the back of a trailer in Castleford. It was in the month of February 2008 when the band decided it was time to lay down some of their own material on to CD. It was off to Liverpool to see the band recording with Rachel Bird, in the studios of LIPA. The band successfully recorded three tracks, and were most pleased with these recordings. However as time progressed, the band started to produce bigger and better songs, and so in August 2008 the band decided it was time to hit the studio again. This time the band went to local sound engineer Dean Barton, who aided the band through a weeks worth of intense recording in order to produce 5 tracks of which the band were very happy with. The month of September 2008 was a sad time for the band, as it saw the foursome having to break for a while, whilst each member pursued different paths at university. Drummer, Chris, moved to Austria to learn his trade as a chef on a ski resort over there. Singer, James, headed to Birmingham to pursue his desires to become an actor. Bassist, Matt, decided he wished to take up Physics in the Unversity of Sheffield, and Guitarist, Tom, felt he wanted to further his Luinguistic and Phonetic skills at the Univesity of Leeds. After several months of intense work at univesity, the foursome are back and in business for the summer of 2009. Already working on and producing new material, the band are extremely excited about the forthcoming months. The band have gigs lined up in Oxford, and are hoping to play at local festivals, but are also on the hunt for more gigs, wishing to pack out the summer months with a vast array of gigs. Thanks very much for visiting our website, we totally apreciate your time, and if you wish to contact us or simply just chat with us, you are more than welcome, just leave us a comment or message us.Thanks again.
