Mackandal's Bio

Mackandal (Born July 10, 1983) is a true MC and owns his own record company The Kayiman Akademi Record Enterprise (KARE).

Born in La Gonave, Haiti (The first free Black Nation in the west), Mackandal moved to Florida in 1993 when he was nine years old then to Virginia, where he started rapping in junior high school. In the year 2001, Mackandal moved to Miami and attended one of the thoughest schools in Dade County at the time, Miami Edison Senior High School.

Upon moving to the rough streets of Miami and attending high school in Little Haiti, at a time when Haitians were being targeted for violent attacks, Mackandal started boxing buildin a reputation, which also opened up doors to a possible acting career, landing him an acting debut in Shakira's "The One" music video . But Mackandal retired from both amatuer boxing and acting because he did not want to stray from his true aims.

In 2003 Mackandal re-united with high school friend X-Legend and DJ Fresh to form a rap group he called Kreyol Akademi, which he soon disbanded due to a lack of loyalty and understanding amongst its members.

Mackandal went on to form his own record company The Kayiman Akademi Record Enterprise (KARE) formerly called the Kreyol Akademi Record Enterprise (KARE) after his old group. Mackandal released his debut promotional album The Battlefield under his label in 2005. " The Battlefield was my first time releasing an underground project," says Mackandal, "I learned a lot from it, which makes me even better at what I do. I've even been called the underground king by fans. Anyone who hears the album would agree that it is an underground classic" as were its hit singles: "Is This Life?" , "All A Nigga Want" and "Pa Janm Bliye" (in his native tongue Creole). The album's guest included, X-Legend, J-Morale (J-Nix at the time), DJ Fresh and Mickey.
Mackandal has been actively building his record company ( The KARE ) to provide an outlet for the future stars in his community, enabling them to pursue their dreams of creative and fnicancial independence.
