About Me

“You Reap What You Sow” is a well-known saying, and it’s never been truer than for Marie Gabrielle.Over the course of her multifaceted career, Marie Gabrielle has established herself as an accomplished vocalist; slide guitar player, performer, songwriter producer and actor.A native New Yorker, Marie was born and raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and The Bronx where she grew up exposed to many styles of music and rhythms ranging from R&B and Classic Rock to Jazz, Folk and Blues. As a young child her mother would put old 45’s in her Christmas stocking. Some of her earliest influences were Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King, Gladys Knight and Aretha Franklin. While attending Hunter College (where she studied music and theater) She began to establish herself in various club scenes from NYC to the Bay Area of San Francisco. She also worked part-time in several prestigious NYC recording studios where she says, “the real education began”. To her credit Marie has sung on numerous recording projects, several television commercials, and has performed and/or shared the bill with: Dr. John, Wyclef Jean, Taj Mahal, Blondie, Lucinda Williams, and many more. She has produced, written and performed her original arrangement of Robert Johnson’s “Ramblin” for the short film titled “The Daily Blues” where she shares the musical bill with Harry Connick Jr., Johnny Lang and Buckwheat Zydeco. She has also written and performed several songs for the hit Off-Broadway show “Phenomena” starring Belinda Sinclair and has just completed scoring the music for “Project 3650”, an animation short for Curious pictures and the “Al Gore foundation” in support of “Global Warming” to be aired on MTV in 2008. She is the recipient of several corporate and national grants for her continued support of blues, roots and Independent music and is co-founder of "The Mexican Children's Education Fund", a private non-profit fund for the advancement of gifted children in Mexico. In 2006, Marie released her debut CD titled “Restless Angel” on her Indie label “RightFoot Records” where she co-produced with producer/engineer Dae Bennett and producer Hugh McCracken at the prestigious “Bennett Studios”(www.bennettstudios.com). With her warm distinctive vocals, strong guitar playing and slide style, substantial lyrical content and rhythmic intonations, there is a generous mix of solid acoustic/rock instrumentation and a simple old-fashioned blues groove. Marie is in the company of some of New York’s most elite musicians, including: Hugh McCracken, “Dr. John”, Seth Glassman, Frank Vilardi, Christopher Parker, Lorenza Ponce, Antoine Silverman Rob Papparozzi…and the list goes on! She has toured Australia several times which included her appearance at “The Melbourne International Music Festival” and has been voted as one of the “TOP 12 DIY (do it yourself) NEW INDEPENDENT ARTIST OF 2006” in “PERFORMING SONGWRITER MAGAZINE”. Currently Marie is a working musician and Independent music producer for several acts in Australia, New York and Los Angeles. She is also writing songs for film and television and preparing to record her second CD, "Terra Firma". Marie Gabrielle has the talent and confidence of a performer who has planted the seeds of true artistry and respect within her industry and will continue to focus on the growth of her own development as a musician/writer/performer. With an exquisite balance of blues, rock and acoustic music, her continued success is proof that you always..... ”Reap what you Sow"
