So I play drums. Always have since I was 12. Anything from my double bass 9pc kit to my hand drum percussion collection. I started with my friends Matt& Pat in Corpsevomit. Great times! We were introduced to the guys from Dogod (dog god, one word), and started playing parties. Tom and Bill (R.I.P) showed us what the "Underground" was, and we began tape trading and sending out flyers. That was back in the day of snail mail. But we made a ton of friends, and Brice started playing bass for us. Soon, Dogod was in need of a drummer, so I took on my first side project. Now both bands were playing regularly and getting some kickass shows! Corpsevomit got to open up for legends like Macabre, Gorguts, Afterlife, Cianide, Master, Immolation, Goatwhore, Cephalic Carnage, Summon, Serberus, Lividity, Deaden, Mortal Decay the list is endless. We did mini tours with Deceased & Incantaion and got a taste for the road. After Dooley started playing bass we were doing even bigger shows like Milwaukee Metalfest 3 times, San Bernadino Metalfest, New Jersey Metalfest. After Dogod, I always felt like side projects kept things interesting, and gave me a chance to try different things musically. Always enjoying the challenge of reinventing myself, I have been in several metal/punk bands from the area, with lots of friends including The Weird (Primus/Exit 13/Napalm Death grind funk), Cumchrist (SOD meets Napalm Death meets Anal Cunt 1 minute balshphemous blast), L.S.B.(drunk punk Exploited, GBH, DRI) Wolfsblood (Misfits tribute), Evil Incarnate (Deicide-ish catchy well structured, Christ hating metal) Bam Boom (two drummers in the vein of Black Sabbath, The Melvins), Sectara (technical Cynic style metal), Lividity (purveyors of porn grind), Rosenguard (melodic heavy rock, with death and black metal intensity and classical influence), Burial Site (droning bass and drums with electronic overlaps) and now possibly a Slayer tribute. I love recording, but always consider myself a live drummer/entertainer. Just a year ago, I had the opportunity to record with Neil Kernon, who produced the Sectara album. And earlier this year I recorded Rosenguard's debut. Liividity is planning on recording thier new album early next year.
My girls are the best things that ever happened to me, it is difficult to find someone who understands and supports you. And any musician knows that a lover's jealousy can interfere with musical dreams, Jessica knows my passions and my drive, and that's part of why she loves me. Our daughter amazes me every day. She likes our music, loves the drums, and is the funniest person I know. I wanted her first name to be Rhythm, but we decided middle was better. Phelah Rhythm Scanlan-my inspiration.
