Motorcycles, billiards, darts, hiking, camping, surrealist art, finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, the art of observation, good coffee, Buddhism, chinese medicine, cats, pushing my boundaries, trying new things, my first futile attempts at gardening, origami, sumi painting, old things, abandoned buildings.
I love going to the Dame for live music. Asylum Street Spankers, The Avett Brothers, Sunday Valley, Vibrolas, City Mouse, Apparitions, The Scourge of the Sea, Andrew Bird The Pixies, Jane's Addiction, The Cure, Lisa Gerrard, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Lou Reed, The Smiths, Jesus and Mary Chain, Nick Cave, The Birthday Party, Cranes, Faith No More, Elastica, Portishead, Joy Division, Camper Van Beethoven, REM, Johnny Cash, some 80's, old country, blues, punk, ska, classical, swing, jazz, rockabilly, Middle Eastern, African, didgeradoo, drumming, ambient, damn near anything but this pop-country bastard that rednecks love so much and the pap they play on top 40 stations like Britney Spears and upper middle class white kids screaming and whining about nothing.
Films that make me laugh, Tim Burton, Cohen Bros., Michael Moore, silent films and shorts, Star Wars trilogy (the first one!), Kubrik, Young Frankenstien, Metropolis (uncut), almost anything with Johnny Depp, John Waters, Monty Python, Cabaret, Quentin Tarantino, Mad Max, Indiana Jones, anything with beautiful women in tight shiny outfits i.e. The Matrix, Tomb Raider, and Batman Returns, spaghetti westerns, Lonesome Dove (yes, you read that right), some japanimation, some Disney animation, Pixar.
Although I don't watch much TV and am vehemently opposed to getting sucked into any serial shows I do have a few that I really enjoy: Family Guy, Scrubs, Blackadder, Twin Peaks, Monty Python, Kids In The Hall, That 70's Show, Trigger Happy TV, Absolutely Fabulous, CSI, America's Funniest Home Videos, Max X and the like, Southpark, Discovery Channel, TLC, PBS.
Henry Miller, Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman, Herman Hesse, Anais Nin, Aldous Huxley, George Orwell, Henry David Thoreau, William S. Burroughs, Elie Weisel, Michael Moore, the Dalai Lama, Thich Naht Hanh, books on Buddhism, Taoism, alternative healing, chinese medicine, true history, art, architecture, philosophy, religion.
