The Heroes

About Me

We are an Indie/Mod/Punk band formed in Leicester during April 07. We have had a number of member changes, but found the right line up in August 09. Our main influences are The Libertines, The Jam and The Clash, but there are elements and influences from much more.
In 2008 we stepped it up a gear, and after opening the Mainstage of the Summer Sundae Weekender 2008, we built a fanbase and created the clubnight 'OVERDRIVE' which has proven to be one of the biggest clubnights the midlands have to offer. We have also played gigs across the country in Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham and London in venues such as the IndigO2 and the Birmingham Carling Academy.
In 2009, we were chosen by BBC Radio 1 to play on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury 2009 and also played Summer Sundae Weekender 2009 festival again. We were also voted by the industry as the best band in the Surface Unsigned Festival 2009 and won OBS 2009.
We have also received airplay across radio stations around the UK. ‘Wake up Radio’ has been aired live from Summer Sundae Weekender on BBC Radio 6 with Steve Lamacq and has also been played on BBC East Midlands with Dean Jackson. Dean Jackson has also played ‘Flowers in Golden Times’, ‘Only Living for Tonight’ and ‘Blue Rave’. ‘Blue Rave’ has been featured as the theme for BBC Introducing on Radio 1 as well as receiving play from Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe. ‘Flowers in Golden Times’ has also been played by Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1.

Sounds Like: 'BBC Leicester favourites The Heroes possess the breakneck pace of the Arctic Monkeys, the old school skank of The Jam and the rough-hewn romance of the Libertines.'

The Heroes at Glastonbury 2009
BBC Introducing

‘Think about where you’ve seen it before. The unquestioned confidence. The precocious stage presence. The swagger. The one that says - we’re the best thing that have ever walked onto a stage and you should consider yourself privileged to be watching us. Sound familiar? All the great bands have had it. And so do The Heroes.’
