About Me

I just moved to Boston and my husband and I are very excited to be here!******************************************************* ***********************I grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, where my father started me on the flute in the 6th grade band. Although I left home for college, my hometown friends, family, and life experiences shaped my heart tremendously. As I grow older, I find that my musical agenda seems to reflect feelings evoked when thinking about home.I attended the University of Miami for 5 years. There, I received an unexpected gift of inspiration and a guidance that will shape how I approach music for the rest of my life. The jazz school, Whit Sidener in particular, was gracious enough to allow a classical flute performance student into the program. This works out well because my husband, a jazz saxophonist, and I are able to share music in a very special way. We write music together, play gigs, and share a similar musical taste.Outside of school, I enjoy playing in a quartet with Steve Pardo (sax), Rainer Davies, (guitar), and Joe Rehmer (bass). We recorded our first record, Big Red Tree, in 2007, and are now working on our second. This fall we plan to play a small tour in the Chicago area. I will post dates as they become available.I also enjoy writing children’s books. Working with friend and artist Bonnie Fitch and singer/songwriter Stefanie Smith, we have completed our first book. The Lady Bug on my Pillow was written for and dedicated to Alyssa Heybeck, our friends Nick and Tyreen’s first baby girl!!!!
