Growing up in a small papermill town in southern Michigan, I was first introduced to the electric bass in high school as a member of the school..s vocal jazz band. A few years later, I was invited to participate in a scholarship program where I was introduced to music theory and performance training through a series of vocal and instrumental Jazz clinics at Western Michigan University. My friends, who listened to everything from Rush and Chicago to James Taylor, introduced me to such great players as Tom T-Bone Wolk, Leland Sklar and Will Lee. Their melodic flair and use of creative bass lines are something that have truly influenced my own playing style today.Since then, I have been involved with several original recording and performing projects ranging from an acoustic duo to an alternative rock band. A recent involvement with SOLID GROUND, a critically acclaimed and highly respected country band from the Midwest, has provided me the privilege to be called a member of one of the best unsigned Country bands in the United States after winning the Jim Beam Country Music Talent Search in Nashville, Tennessee in the fall of 1997!Between commercial studio projects and raising a family, I've had a career building opportunity writing and performing with The legendary blues guitarist Jimmie Stagger. Currently fronting my own project, ROGUE RIVER GRASS, has been a real blessing for me-- A big fan of acoustic bluegrass, I hope to continue my performing career giving back what I've learned from the great performers I've grown to love and respect!
