"EPIC COMBUSTION (GREEN, GREEN GREEN)" - A RAUCOUS GUITAR SALUTE TO THE DRIVERS OF NASCAR.
Anyone who's ever attended a NASCAR race can tell you it's one of the most exhilarating events on the face of the earth. From the National Anthem and fly over, the rumble in your chest when the command is given to "start your engines", the feeling you get when the pace car leaves the track and the green flag waves, to the burn out after the checkered flag. Through it all, the air is electric... the sights, sounds and smells are just over the top.
With the song "Epic Combustion", I have attempted to musically capture the sense of excitement of a NASCAR event and pay tribute to the drivers who rock our world each week, all while bringing together the bookends of musical styles that define the musical tastes of the fans, namely Country and Metal. This song will literally charge from your speakers in a fury of metal riffage, country chicken pickin' and burning rubber and it doesn't let up until the burnout at the end. You will also notice that there are chordal accents that approach from speaker left, go blazing by to speaker right, then turn left and go down the backstretch. Throughout the entire song, I'm playing my guitar on the very edge of my abilities, just like the drivers who are out there each week pushing their cars and driving abilities beyond their limits.This is my way of saying thanks.
So pull those belts tight, close your eyes and CRANK IT UP!! THIS IS MUSICAL TALLEDEGA BABY!!
Robert Bussey is a professional guitarist and instructor residing in Concord, NC. A Virginia native, Robert's parents would take him to Martinsville and Bristol during his childhood. He would draw pictures of David Pearson beating Richard Petty across the finish line just to annoy them. Robert is also a cousin of NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin.
