About Me
Nella Fantasia - Remembrance Day Tribute
This is a song I recorded for Remembrance day to pay tribute to soldiers vets and everyone who has ever served. This is a tribute to both past and present soldiers. Those who gave their lives, those who came home safely, and those who continue to serve. I know it's not much in comparison, but It's my way of giving something back to them. Thank you. Also, thank you to all the people who made this tribute possible. Very big thanks to Paul Marks for the wonderful arrangement, Animattronic for helping me edit, and all friends and families who let me use pictures of their loved ones.
About me:
My inspiration to become a singer first started when I was 6 and saw the broadway production Phantom of the Opera. I fell in love with it instantly and my love for singing was born. It wasn't until I was 13 that I began to take lessons for my singing though and by 14 I decided I wanted to pursue opera.
My next inspiration came from the Diva Plavalaguna from The Fifth Element which put together a classical operatic sound with a techno electro type sound, something I had always wanted to do ever since but never got the opportunity to until recently. I like to think I'm a flexible musician as I enjoy singing and writing in many different genres of music. Opera, Jazz, Pop, Country, folk, rock, and techno are some of my favorites to sing so far.
I was also blessed to have been a part of The Canadian Premier of "The Ballad of Baby Doe" done by Calgary Opera in January 2008.
About my songs:
In The Shadows
This is a song I was very privileged to co-write with the talented Animattronic. I fell in love with this song instantly. The lyrics and melody of this song came to me so naturally and the overall mood of this song gives me so much energy. It's still in the works as more editing needs to be done with it, but I love it so much, I just had to share it!
Break The Beat Down
This is another song I did with Animattronic that I absolutely love. I didn't really plan this song, I just kinda started singing with it right away and this is how it turned out.
The Phantom of the Opera
- Ever since I saw The Phantom of the Opera theatrical production at the ripe old age of 6, I wanted to sing this song. Everything from the alluring melody and the strong organ, to the haunting high E at the end just makes me all jumpy. When I was younger, I never thought I would be able to sing this song, so it's satisfying now that I can.
Hurt
-I know this is a cover of a cover, but I absolutely love Johnny Cash's rendition of this song, its so intensely emotional and powerful! I know I cant come close to doing it like the great Man In Black but it was still felt amazingly good to sing
Queen of the Night (Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen)
-When I first heard this song, I thought it was one of the coolest songs I had ever heard (and still do). The energy, passion and anger in this song is so powerful. In this song, the Queen is yelling at her daughter and commanding her to commit murder and goes on to tell her what terrible consequences she will face if she doesn't. I just had to do it! Although it wasn't perfect, I'm happy with how it turned out, and I enjoyed singing it.
Belle Nuit, O Nuit D'amourSpecial Thanks:
