About Me

Dormin is a take on my Hebrew name, Nimrod. It is my name spelled backwards and means “sexual generation”. I have been producing music since the age of thirteen. I found the different sounds of life very interesting and took it to another level when I began recording my own music. I knew I had found my passion when I would listen to my father’s records until they could not play anymore. My parents noticed my desire to be embedded in the sounds of music and decided to sign me up for flute lessons. Their intentions were good, but I soon discovered that I did not have a knack for wind instruments, to say the least. So, they signed me up for art lessons, thinking that this outlet would satisfy my hunger for expression. Although enjoyable, music was still my passion. By this time, I had discovered a wide range of artists that I could not get enough of. From Elvis Presley to Led Zeppelin, I had to have music in my life. For my fourteenth birthday my parents bought me an acoustic guitar, which I loved, but eventually broke for some reason or another, lol. It wasn’t until high school where I discovered my medium of music that I found to be perfect for me. A group of students, including myself, would get together and jam out on a bunch of old equipment that had seen their peak years before coming into our possession, but none the less, sounded great. We made music that we loved to listen to and I discovered my strength. My musical hearing helped the band strengthen its weaknesses, and I eventually became the sound man. It was at this point in my life that I found my calling in life. For my fifteenth birthday, my father bought me a mixer, and I became the soundman for a few bands. I had also found a passion for drums and took part in my own band but had to call it quits when our lead man committed suicide. This tragedy pushed me back into recoding full-time.In 2003, I moved to Tel-Aviv to further my career and opened a studio. I began seeking out the local talent until word traveled that I was a pretty decent producer and then the talent began seeking me. My work had extended to so many styles of music, such as rock, alternative, classical, etc., that I realized that I had the skills to make my own. In 2004, I started getting into the new wave of electronic sounds based on house music. I began producing my music in so many new ways that I soon had my own sound. It was encompassed with bass, congas, symbols, and voice recordings without any use of computer generated sounds. My music had a unique sound that attracted many talents, such as the wonderful singer Noni, whom I have collaborated with on many occasions. With my new found sound, I wanted to broaden my music with culture and discover what the world had to offer. In 2005, I traveled to India and began producing music for the local musicians with my own spin on it. Needless to say, it was a sound like no other and has inspired me to publish my music to the world. Today, I am putting the finishing touches on my album which I hope to have released by mid-2008. There is a quote that sums up my aspirations in life and that has led me to follow my passion in pursuit of my dream, “information is not knowledge, knowledge is not truth, truth is not beauty, beauty is not love, love is not music, music is the best”. – frank zappa
