jespernorda.com //Hi, welcome! My name is Jesper Norda, I am born in 1972, Im an artist and musician, and I live in Gothenburg with my girlfriend and our son and my two children from an earlier relationship. After two years at the college of music in my 20s, I felt a strong need to suppress my interest in music, and started to work with viusal arts. I did a Master of Fine arts, and taught at Valand School of fine arts for a couple of years. I have been part of exhibitions here and there, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Thailand, USA etc. I work with installations where sound always is central, I also work with video and text. Somehow, during the years, some music managed to make its way up to the surface anyway, I have done some collaborations in the borders between art and music, together with artists/composers like Staffan Mossenmark, Johannes Heldén, Fredric Bergström and Nira Pereg or musicians like Martin Mcfaul, Mats Bergström and Anders Jormin. Now I work with two projects, together with Åbi Berglund I create popmusic in a duo called If There Is Something, and together with my piano I write and record songs for a soloproject. My plan is like this: I try to follow my hands along the keyboard, and then I try to sing something that feels singable, and then I try to stop to play when I feel that something feels to complicated and messy. Then I start to play something new that I think I might like.-------------080630 www.itsatrap.com
"It's the quiet ones you gotta worry about. The louder, more blustery the threat, the less likely they'll follow through. At least that's my experience. Jesper Norda bristles with white-hot violence in this ballad and I don't doubt for a minute that he'll make good on it. In the same way that Tindersticks brings the darkness to their version of soul music, Norda does the same with his restrained piano ballads and I'm way into it. His deep voice seethes with darkness and brings danger to every line. Even the title track from his "Little ones" EP is unnerving, despite the far tamer subject matter. Proof positive once again that less is more. Always. To quote Foetus: say what you mean and say it mean."080705 eardrumsmusic.com
"Jesper Norda is a multi-talented artist from Gothenburg, Sweden. He works with both music and visual arts, and has had art-exhibitions in several countries around the world. We first wrote about him a year ago, when we featured his pop-band If There Is Something (together with Åbi Berglund), but this time Norda is on his own in his solo project. His songs are mainly based on piano and vocals, and it’s this simple instrumentation that really gets me hooked on his music. The warm vocals and the beautiful melodies comes so close, and the songs have this wonderful atmosphere that works especially good after dark. It might be his voice, - I don’t know - , but there’s something in his music that makes me think of Magnetic Fields. It’s not the obvious comparison, I know, but still…"-------------
