I’ve been a certified personal trainer for over 7 years, and I am proud to bring seattle an entirely new type of gym.
Throughout history, work and play were socially engaging activities. People stayed in shape and got more than just fitness: they connected, did something meaningful, and joined others in a common goal.
Nowadays, most would consider working out a solo activity. A one-on-one war between you and your stubbornly too fat/too skinny body. Going to the gym normally means being alone in the crowd, everyone waging war on their own, so close yet so far from a truly enriching experience.
Not anymore Seattle. We facilitate a fun, supportive community, overseen by expert coaches to help you achieve and maintain the best fitness of your life. The support keeps you committed, every workout is fun, and exercise means something much, much more than just trying to burn off extra body fat.
Training at The Box makes you part of a movement; a revolution in fitness. Were taking back the word 'fitness' from the models and the magazines. REAL fitness is our pursuit, looking sexy is just a side effect.

-We believe in measuring fitness, not by appearance or body composition, but by how able you are to physically manage your life. Though body composition, being a corollary of fitness, improves much faster when you train like an athlete.
-Your fitness program should not be limited by your ability, it should improve it.
-The gym should not be a cozy place. It is a place to get into the best shape of your life. It literally changes you. You can't get that by doing "cardio" on an elliptical while watching television or reading a magazine.
-We don't do bodybuilding. Isolation exercises don't use the body the way it really works in most functional applications.
-Fitness is measured by work capacity across broad temporal and modal domains and we constantly measure the work capacity of our members.
-We believe that your training environment plays a huge role in motivation, that's why we are a goal oriented community, facilitating competition and cameraderie, and above all else, PLAY.
-We believe that a gym should provide world class coaching, and that it should be included in the membership cost.
Some of what we use are: gymnastics elements (like rings), olympic weightlifting, whole body movements, climbing ropes, medicine balls, free weights, sandbags, weight vests, kettlebells, pullup bars, obstacle courses, slacklines, dodgeball.
Some of the videos below were produced by other private gyms in the CrossFit community but they give you a good idea of the level of fitness that can be reached through CrossFit and programming like it.
