About Me

Buy Evripidis and his tragedies cd in the UK from ROUGH TRADE and SISTER RAYBuy Evripidis and his tragedies cd in the US from DARLA Evripidis and his tragedies began as a personal musical project ....in the beginning it was a solo thing but then I discovered that my girlfriends Marisol ( Eleva, Elevator ), Nora , Odil and Annie (How dare U!) have all fantastic voices and a lot of talent...apart from being really fun to hang around with! And gorgeous ( they steal the scene quite often...)! During the same time Cristina was added on violin, giving the necessary dark wave-meets-baroque touch. later there was Iker (Mus, Las Esferas Invisibles) on bass and occasional guitar and Jaume on drums ( although he is not a drummer, but that..s the brilliant thing...he used to play keuboards with the Epic Kind). So, depending on the venue Evripidis and his tragedies were a one-man show or a crowded scene really. The band recorded its debut on Barcelona..s Touchme records produced by long time collaborator Manel Ibañez ( Bubbles, Les tres bien enseble, Megaafonia) and Gerard Civat. Some key changes have taken place lately now that the debut is finally out...We have a new bass player , Aleix (a very prolific kid as he is also a member of Alba y Aleix and Extraperlo and palys in a zillion other bands from time to time...) and yes, there is a saxophone player, ladies and gentlemen, the fabulous Abel ( Le Pianc, El guisante magico) who adds a groovy touch to whichever song he plays...and he is also a good dancer (What do you mean is he a good dancer? well how does he dance? close, very very close...)!So the story goes on and no-one knows what will happen next. We are currently working on new songs and giving concerts...once more, we can be 9 people on stage being noisy loud or just myself humming quietly. We just recorded a version of the Magnetic Fields.. song "There..lll be time enough for rocking when we are old" for a tribute cd. you can download it for free, as well as the whole compilation here http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&f riendID=18256924&blogID=365739321In addition, we also recorded a 9-song ep in collaboration with Catalan visual artist David Bestué. The musicians who participated are Aleix Clavera, Sergi Puyol, Abel Puyol, Mark Ribera, Annie Arjona, Marisol Simo, Odil Bright and Jose Paadin. For this project, as well as for the Magnetic Fields cover, producers were Manel Ibañez and Gerard Civat.I am currently preparing a new record with all those people who play with me this last year and some new ones ,playing live, sipping cocktails, driving myself( and the unlucky others who are close to me) crazy and writing some more music. For booking , either me or all of the bad, write at [email protected] edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
