Swans of Never is a project started by Matthew Nanes. After playing in a several hardcore bands in Salt Lake City, Utah and growing tired of the music scene, he retreated to his bedroom and wrote quiet confessionals of the ilk of artists like Owen, Onelinedrawing and Ryan Adams. After slowly building a repertoire and playing some shows, the desire to rock crept back into the bloodstream of Nanes. Enter the Swans of Never self-titled EP.
Drawing on inspiration of the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, Jimmy Eat World and Sunny Day Real Estate, Matthew Nanes re-crafted older, quiet songs he had written into loud, rock juggernauts, primed to floor any audience that would encounter them. The three song EP, which features drums from Kenny Bozich (formerly of The Almost) and recorded by Andy Patterson (Gaza, Her Candane, The New Transit Direction) comprises of songs about finding and keeping faith through every-day paranoia that are bound to hook any music fan of any genre through smart vocal harmonies and addictive buzzsaw guitar melodies.
One thing for certain is not to expect Swans of Never to be stagnant. With the release of the Swans of Never EP is bound to make Swans of Never a musical force to take note of, not to be taken for granted. "Swans is something that I've done out of necessity to create, not something to manufacture to take part of any scene. I'll always create something different to satisfy myself but it's my prayer that if only a few appreciate, understand and have their lives changed by what I do, then I've done my job" explains Nanes.
Listen to the Swans of Never EP for yourself come September 2nd, 2008 through Myspace, ITunes and every other musical outlet. It's the first chapter of many in the story of Swans of Never.
