About Me

Walt Coleman is a performing singer songwriter living in Cincinnati, Ohio. Walt has been described as a seasoned multitalented professional that can captivate the audience with his diverse vocal ability while delivering rock solid bass lines. At age 8 he began his musical career learning the guitar; but switched to the bass guitar at the age of 12. Walt was the lead vocalist and bass player for The Exotics by the age of 15. Unfortunately because he was only a minor, he was required to complete high school before his father would consent to him playing. Not discouraged, Walt continued to play and enhance his musical skillsAt the age of 20 Walt joined the US Army and in his spare time collaborated with military friend and guitarist Elvis Crumbley. Together they composed “Fairy Tales” and “Love Song (All I need)”; which are featured on Walt’s “Songs in Transition” CD. In 1987 Walt co-wrote and sang vocals on the CBS recording artist Micowave hit entitled “Instant Replay”. His signature bass styling has accompanied such artist as Eric Gable’s recording of “Come as You Are” and EMI Record’s artist Blessid Union of Souls. In Walt’s extensive career he has demonstrated his exceptional talent by performing with Reggie Calloway and his group “Destiny” and with Gerald Brown on the celebrated Shalamar reunion tour, where he received recognition as co-writer and music director for the song “Loser’s Game”. Walt also joined forces with singer songwriter Bigg Robb (the hype man for the Zapp Band) to record Bigg’s down south southern soul hit; “Baby your bathwaters ready” for Over 25 Records.Walt’s wide audience appeal was appreciated during his musical tours to Japan and Canada. His professional versatility has extended over to the advertising industry by providing his voice on commercials for prestigious companies such as the IRS, United Appeal, Longaberger Baskets and local websites. Walt has performed on various jingles for a host of esteem clients from Sound Images, Ligosa Studios, RTG Music, to Steve Hoskins and Iocona.Walt was considered a phenomenal asset as a member of several successful local bands such as Blues band- U-Can Use, Shakefear, Jam Factor 6, Groove Yard, and Jam Factor (the house band at Jeff Ruby’s famous “Waterfront” restaurant/entertainment center). Walt can currently be found performing as one of the lead vocalist and bass player for the Airwave Band; recognized in January 2006 as Modern Bride’s Top five Wedding Bands in the State of Ohio. In January 2007, Modern Bride also proclaimed the Airwave Band as their Top 150 Wedding Bands in the country; quoting the bands versatility is their ability to “quickly switch gears from Sinatra to Outkast. Airwaveband.com provides more detailed information about the band.Walt was recently involved with producing and co-writing the title track of fellow Airwave Band member Dixie Kara’s CD; “Whisper something Sweet and Low”. Self production wise, Walt has just completed and will release his first solo CD effort entitled “Songs in Transition”. The CD contains a collection of earlier composed and brand new songs that have transitioned to their current musical concepts. This journey was only successful with the assistance of several true friends. Look for the “Songs in Transition” CD after May 30th, 2008! Walt thanks his fans and hope you will enjoy his current and future musical endeavors.
