Band Members:HERE'S SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE BAND I PLAY IN---------------THE HART BROTHERS BAND-------------THE MEMBERS ARE------.....CHARLIE HETTRICK (Bass,Background Vocals, Engineer)- From Pavilion, New York will say repeatedly, "I only play the bass. I'm not a bass player." But Charlie knows he adds a great deal more with his vocal harmonies. Charlie has been playing the bass since the 1960's. He graduated from RIT College of Electronics in 1972 after completing a hitch with Uncle Sam. Then he spent 20 years on the road with Esteban "Steve" Jordan Y El Rio Jordan as bassist and studio engineer for them, highlighted by a performance on Austin City Limits and tours to Germany in '88, France in '90 and Tokyo and Osaka, Japan in '92. On my first road tour with the band, which was up the left coast, I had the privilege of meeting some of the members of "The Three Dog Night", and jamming with them in Tommy Thomas' limousine parking garage, while they tried to hook us up with the "forces that be in L.A.", having known Steve from when they learned vocal harmonies from watching him and his brothers in an after hours club in Phoenix, AZ, that Steve's people ran. Unfortunately, not knowing of Steve's "crash and burn tendancies" at the time, or for a long time, it never came to be. I believed that "in spite of himself", I could still help him "pull it off". What arrogance, or over confidence on my part. Charlie also has another side to him, acting. He had a small cameo appearance with his band in David Byrne and the Talking Heads' cult classic "True Stories" featuring John Goodman. Playing with that Tex-Mex band, Charlie earned the nickname, "El Charro Blanco", and co-engineered three albums for the band on RCA International Records at Hacienda Records in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also had the opportunity for a behinds the scenes look at the making of Cheech Marin's "Born In East L.A." which Steve Jordan and son had small parts, and in a recording studio in Studio City, Ca. where the sound tracks for their scenes were recorded. Charlie's E-mail address is: [email protected]
-----------------AL HART----- (Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, and Vocals)- From Rochester, New York-is a knee slapping of a guitarist with many years of experience in Rock, Country, Jazz and Blues as well as a songwriter for several well-known songs produced in Nashville. Al, originally from Franklin Co. New York, first came to Rochester, New York in 1968, where he began playing bass guitar in a band with his brother Buddy, called The Tennessee Acoustics. In 1969 Al and Buddy went on the road to Philadelphia and played all the hot spots. Since then Al has performed in over 15 states, along with Nashville artists such as Gene Watson and Larry Butler, (who is a good friend of Willy Nelson). In the 1980's Al played on the "Grand Old Opry". Returning to Rochester in 1988, Al brought with him the name of the band that he started in Texas, and has kept the band alive, still today.
----- BUDDY HART----- (Guitar, Harmonica, and Vocals)- From Rochester, New York-plays a mean harp, as well as the acoustic guitar. Buddy was born 5 miles from the Canadian border, in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains. Buddy arrived in Rochester, New York in 1968, where he and his brother Al played with the Tennessee Acoustics and The Nashville Addicts, and then formed Bud Hart and The Full House Band. In the 70's and 80's Bud played with other area bands until he decided to move to Houston, Texas. He returned to Rochester and joined his brother Al, to form Hartland Band, which is still alive today. Bud and Al have co-written several well known songs that have been produced and sold in the Tri-county area. Bud has memorized over 300 songs: Country, Rock, Blues, from Johnny Cash to Z. Z. Top. Bud's famous words that he sticks by, "You do not have to be from Dixie to love and play "Country Music"".
-------------- BOB SHEPARD----- (Drums and Promotions)- From Rochester, New York- grew up in Rochester, New York and started playing the drums in 1973. Soon he would meet a guitarist, Pete Manuel. Together they formed a Rock and Roll band called Thin Ice, and eventually had a gig at their high school. They continued to jam throughout their high school years, starting musical careers that are still going strong 30 years later. While in high school, Bob took some lessons with the late David Acarso, who played professionally with Don Potter and Julio Iglasias. Bob's major influences in music were mostly Southern
rock, and 60's and 70's Rock and Roll, such as Z. Z. Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd. In 1985 he switched to Country music with The Country Gents Band. Later he would form The Sundowner Band, while sitting in with various other groups. In 1995, the band Cheyenne was formed. Bob stayed until they split up in 1998. Bob is the Promotions Manager for the band, and handles everything from securing new gigs to advertising and organizing. He has done a superb job keeping the Hartland name on the streets.
Influences: Probably my first and biggest influence was a great bass player who played with an area band in the 60’s and early 70’s called "The Fabulous Furys" His name is Dave Zazkoda. He could play anything from rock to jazz to blues to show tunes, and as a mentor, he was the person I hoped I could most emulate
