Damien McGeehan began playing Irish traditional music at the age of seven. Citing the Donegal style of fiddling as his main influence, echoes of the great fiddlers of the past are prominent in his playing.Performing professionally since the age of fifteen, Damien has toured Ireland, Great Britain, Italy, Australia and Scandanavia. He has made numerous appearances on national/international television and radio and has performed alongside acts such as The Chieftains, Niall Keegan, Michael O’ Suilleabháin, Frankie Gavin and The World Youth Chamber Orchestra to name but a few.A successful competition performer, he has obtained many highly regarded titles in Irish music both as a band member and solo performer at County, Provincial and All-Ireland levels. In 2005 he was awarded the prestigious Teastas i dTeagasc Ceoil Tire by Comhaltas Ceoltoirà Eireann, an award which acknowledges his high performing and teaching ability and recognises him as a qualified adjudicator and teacher of Irish traditional music.Damien has studied at the R.S.A.M.D. (Glasgow) and has recently achieved a BA in Irish Music at The Irish World Academy of Music, University of Limerick.
