I attended the University of Colorado, Boulder on a leadership scholarship as a part of the University’s President’s Leadership Class and in 1995 I received my bachelor degree in English . I then pursued my Master of Science degree in Financial Engineering from Golden Gate University and graduated in 2002.
I have produced several instructional/documentary films starring some the world’s greatest grapplers and published several highly acclaimed books on Western Martial Arts including:
• The Sport of Catch Wrestling: The Certified Catch Wrestler Handbook
• The Authoritative Encyclopedia of Scientific Wrestling, Volumes I – IV
• The Classical Pugilism and Bare-Knuckle Boxing Companion, Volumes I & II
• An Introduction to Vintage Jiu-Jitsu
• The Handbook of Authentic Indian Club Swinging
I have been a student of sport fighting since 1977 when, at the age of 4, my mother put me in pee-wee wrestling. I persisted in my study of grappling despite almost dying of gangrene poisoning as a kid, having cancer (Hodgkin’s lymphoma) as a teenager, and seriously injuring my neck at grappling practice in 1994.
I've dabbled in tae kwon do (tested for my blackbelt at 16 years old), judo, boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and Professional Wrestling but I've single-mindedly devoted my myself to the deliberate study of authentic professional catch-as-catch-can wrestling since 1998.
I have also recently brought my first piece of fitness equipment to the market called the MACEBELL . Part kettlebell, part indian club, ALL ASS KICKER!
How about by family?
I am a husband, father, son, brother, nephew, and cousin.
How about by challenges overcome?
Um, let's see I am a cancer survivor (Hodgekin's at 16), I've survived a broken neck (from grappling), lived through severe gangrene poisoning (from a botched appendix operation as a child), I was a latch-key kid, and I had an alcohic step-father... LOL
Maybe occupation(s) is a fair way to identify oneself?

the Manager of Shipping for a libertarian bookstore in San Francisco, California;
an Associate Statistician for a Direct Mail specialist in Broomfield, Colorado;
a Professional Wrestler for the Van’s Warped Tour and Incredible Strange Wrestling;
a Derivatives Specialist Manager for a Financial Engineering firm in Berkeley, California;
and the Manager of Modeling for the leading reverse mortgage bank in Orange County, California.
