About Me

“In a Perfect World”, the latest release, from R&Bster, Dr. Ross, is a recipe of soul, funk, rock and swing ranging from high stepping Dixie to down home blues. His powerful and evocative vocals on such tunes as If You Got to Make A Fool of Somebody as well as his accompanying soulful blues based guitar style create an unforgettable musical feeling which touches the heart...
This original music arranged and composed by Dr. Ross and friends is strong, steady and diverse. Backed by a strong rhythm section featuring Danny Montgomery on drums and matching the compelling music are catchy lyrics sung by Dr. Ross’ rough and steady vocals and accompanied by his full range of guitar mastery, unique yet reminiscent of the Blues Greats.
As Blues has roots, Dr. Ross is no seedling in the music scene, a powerful seasoned guitarist and R&B vocalist, Dr. Ross has had the honor of playing with such greats as Freddie King, Albert Collins, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon, Luther Tucker, Toto, The Doobie Brothers, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Chuck Berry, Pinetop Perkins, The Beach Boys, Bryan Adams, Loverboy just to name a few.
He was bitten by the Blues in the early 1960’s influenced by B.B. King, Peter Green, Albert King and Jerry Miller of Moby Grape. He played guitar in the San Francisco Bay Area until moving further North in the 1970’s. In 1979, Dr. Ross teamed up with Canadian Rocker, Jerry Doucette (winner of Canada’s prestigious Juno Award for the most promising act of 1978) and proceeded to tour throughout the United States with the Grammy award winning, Doobie Brothers’ 1979 Minute by Minute Tour.
While living in Canada, Dr. Ross worked many facets of the music business including performing, producing, publishing, composing, managing and recording several Canadian acts. After eight years in Canada, Ross returned to California where he fronted Dr. Ross and the Hellhounds. This seven piece R&B jump band toured Australia in 1989, played up and down the State of California‘s major venues which led to recording of the acclaimed “Madison to Memphis” Album.
Evolving from the Hellhounds, Dr. Ross, over the years continued to refine his singular sound. After numerous CD projects several tours to Europe and extensive traveling in the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Ross’s current CD “In A Perfect World” continues to enjoy frequent air- play and positive reviews both in the United States and Europe.
In his third consecutive European Tour backed by his world class musicians, Danny Montgomery (drums), Rigo Righetto (bass) and Antonio Gramentieri (guitar) Ross begins his March 2008 tour in France, Italy (with the Strada Blu Festival), Spain and wherever the music leads him.
