:::BIOGRAPHY:::
Formed in late 2005, Malfaktor is an Experimental-Industrial-Metal band from Huntington Beach, California. Malfaktor formed out of the ruins of their former band, Ritualistic Suicide, by its founders, lead singer/programmer Doug Cheek, lead guitarist/synths/programmer Tim Miller from the Huntington Beach based Indutrial/Gothic/Electronica band No Last Resort (www.myspace.com/nolastresort), and bass/synths/programmer Larry Orban III from the Rancho Santa Margarita based Electronica/Industrial/Pschedelic band Orbasm (www.myspace.com/orbasm). Malfaktor has currently risen to new heights, but only recently...
During most of 2006, they visualized what Malfaktor was at the time and also recorded approximately ten (10) songs, including the single "Dirty Faith", for their upcoming debut album, The Delay of the Inevitable. The band took a well needed break in the latter part of 2006, but in 2007, the band seemed to have changed a bit.
In 2007, Malfaktor continued creating new songs and rehearsing, but something undoubtfully had changed within the band. Cheek looked for a lead guitarist and back-up synth to ease the amount of work on Miller's shoulders and also to give the band more diversity in the music creation process. Lead guitarist Alex Beal from the Orange County based Thrash/Metal band Planet Crusher (www.myspace.com/planetcrusher) and synth/programmer Max Ortega joined Malfaktor, but tension grew between the band. In mid-2007, Miller decided to leave the band for personal reasons.
Although the departure of Miller was somewhat devastating to Malfaktor, much was learned from him, and Malfaktor seemed to have never been stronger in late-2007. The band reworked, reinvented, and re-recorded all of the original previously recorded tracks, along with new material.
Malfaktor's debut album, The Delay of the Inevitable, was released on August 8, 2008. Then, after a series of live performances at clubs and venues in Los Angeles and in the surrounding Orange County area, the band's synth player, Ortega, decided to leave the band for personal reasons. So, again, the band suffered another loss in the band's lineup.
The band quickly resumed playing shows by acquiring Purg3 from the Los Angeles based Industrial/Gothic/Electro band Syn:Server (www.myspace.com/synserver) temporarily for live play on synths/programming. Only after playing a handful of shows, Purg3 left the band voluntarily to resume work on Syn:Server to complete their debut album.
Shortly thereafter, the band acquired Rayne Xiaphiam from the Los Angeles based Electronica/Electro/Industrial band De-Tached (www.myspace.com/detachedmusic) as a full-time band member of Malfaktor. Rayne Xiaphiam contributed live synths/bass/programming.
Malfaktor also acquired live drummer Ryan Banfield, and shortly after, Miller rejoined the band as lead guitarist to solidify the live sound. Then, after 5 months with the band and after roughly 6 months with the band, both Rayne Xiaphiam, Ryan Banfield, and Malfaktor went different directions.
Malfaktor then acquired Sycophant from the Orange County based Industrial/Gothic/Electronica band No Last Resort(www.myspace.com/nolastresort) and his Orange County based Industrial/Gothic/Electronica project Sycophant (www.myspace.com/sycophantproject) to play synths, drums, and bass. Malfaktor then acquired Fractal (www.myspace.com/fractal) to play synths/programming/production.
Malfaktor is seemingly stronger than ever and has received much praise and support from their friends, family, and fans in their continuing efforts to make a name for themselves, contributing to their success in 2008-2009. Malfaktor looks to move forward while annihilating infectious, viral stupidity...extinguishing guilt and fear where possible, all while creating unique, heavy music for your ears!
Malfaktor will book shows in 2008 through 2009 in support of their debut album, The Delay of the Inevitable. Go out to Malfaktor's shows and show your support!
