Akay: A Seventeen year old songstress from the one and only Jacksonville, FL. Akay has been writing songs since the age of 11, & recording & doing shows since the age of 12. Struggling in a dysfunctional family since the age of 3, music has been an inspiration to Akay, she grew up with two older brothers, a younger sister, her mother & alcoholic step-father. "I've never really had anybody to talk to growing up, because being around drama everyday just made me a quiet kid. I'd always write in my notebook during class, nothing serious just little poems and stuff, and they eventually turned into songs, my mom always thought i could sing but it really showed when things got bad with my step-dad, and after that situation was over i deicided I couldn't just ditch singing and writing because things got better, I've kept it in my life and I know I don't want to do anything but sing" says Akay.
Akay has worked with artists/producers such as The A'z, Mgeezy, JayO, Young N.O., Nusense, YNIC artists DJ Burn & Urban Champ, & more, in the past Akay has also worked with def jam south's A&R/upstart ENT. record pool owner Derek Washington--Also labeled by him the south's new princess of r&B!
