About Me

"Jack Mack and the Heart Attack has been LA's leading proponent of Rock'n'Soul music for a long time. They are one of my all time favorite bands.” - Glenn Frey, the Eagles. Jack Mack are described as "extraordinary musicians and dynamic performers”. This 10 piece Rockin' Soul band has lived three decades as one of America’s most dynamic and insurmountable bands. They've circled the globe performing concerts, clubs, festivals, major corporate events and some of the world's most outrageous private affairs for nearly three decades. Their individual style of high energy R&B /Soul music, a combination of the Memphis Stax Volt sound and James Brown, has garnered an ever expanding and loyal following, and cemented their legendary reputation. The Jack Mack entertainment brand has oozed into every facet of show biz, from their incredible live performances, studio recordings, film and TV music placements and the ever-constant shoulder rubbing with celebrities. As they inch towards their thirtieth year, Jack Mack will step up to the world stage once again with a brand new album release in 2010 and exciting re-releases and new releases from their cult classics. They are unstoppable. Known for nearly three decades as 'Jack Mack and the Heart Attack', the band is widely known as one of the premier Soul, R&B, party bands in the world. You can find their infamous horn section, “The Heart Attack Horns”, included on countless collections and numerous award winning recording artists albums worldwide. But what the band is most known for is their solid, energetic and stellar live performances. The All-Star line-up currently features founder/guitarist Andrew Kastner (Chaka Kahn, Natalie Cole, Barry White), sax player Bill Bergman (Bonnie Raitt, Glenn Frey), singer Mark Campbell (Huey Lewis, Jackson Browne), trumpeter Les Lovitt (Grammy winners The Eagles, Woody Herman, Herbie Hancock and No Doubt), bassist Bruce Atkinson and Tim Scott (Eric Clapton, Tower of Power), drummer Les Falconer (Keb Mo, Tony Braxton), keyboardist Robin Swenson, Bari Sax player Terry Landry and trumpeter Roy Weigan. In the early eighties, the band honed their sound with dedication, playing gigs around LA until they took up residency at The Central, the now infamous Viper Room on Sunset Blvd, every Monday night. Within a few weeks, people were forming lines around the block to get into the tiny club to see their show (the band will soon be releasing a live recording of one of those hot nights at the Central).Since those early times, the band has never looked back, and have had a constant, successful ride on stage and in the studio. Jack Mack’s live appearances have been numerous and steady. They have packed bars, rock clubs, parties, corporate events, concert halls and outdoor concerts and festivals. It’s hard to put Jack Mack in only one peg hole stylistically, as they draw from so much of past and present, and make it their own. Touches of soul classics from James Brown, Wilson Picket, Booker T & the MG's, a bit of Motown with a whole lot of southern Memphis feel – creates the starting point to where Jack Mack likes to take it on the live scene.Drawing from their esteemed past and moving into the future, Jack Mack perform a high energy show with a fun factor that raises the roof wherever they perform. These extraordinary and professional performers provide just the recipe to cook up a super hot show every time they hit the stage! From special arrangements of classics to some of today’s most popular tunes, infused with their own extraordinary original songs, the Jack Mack band provides a landscape of music sure to please the most discerning listener, pleasing audiences with their “dance-‘til-you drop, groove-‘til-you sweat” performances. With original songs that are impressive with the 10-piece band, some of the Jack Mack favorites include I'm Gonna Be Somebody (from the movie Police Academy), Somewhere Somebody, a unique James Brown Medley, a Temptations Medley and Sly & The Family Stone medley. This 10 piece ensemble is a cookin’ and slammin’ musical machine that carries on the tradition of Jack Mack (and the Heart Attack) and moves it forward, pleasing long-time fans and capturing new hearts, as they blaze their way across the globe. While their follow up CDs continue in the tradition of heartfelt American Rock and Soul music, you can also find Jack Mack included on countless TV/movie soundtrack collections and numerous award winning recording artists’ albums as well. Their catalog includes a 6 album legacy which are now all available on their website, www.jackmack.com and digitally online, including iTunes. Their albums include: Cardiac Party (produced by The Eagles Glenn Frey) (1980), Jack It Up (1990), Arrhythmia (1996), Scott Hamilton & Friends (2002), Club Lingerie-Live (2007) and By Request (2007) In October 2010, Jack Mack will celebrate a milestone few bands in the history of music have been able to reach: their 30th Anniversary. As the countdown to Oct. 2010 begins, the band is planning several major events. First up, is a complete revamp of their web site and a major leap into every possible networking site, Friends, Fans, and Networks are the new paradigm, and Jack Mack plans to look forward as well as reach out to their long time supporters. This will be the first time Jack Mack will able to communicate worldwide with all their listeners, and instantly reply, blog, and respond. Until that release Jack Mack will be in full creative mode, writing a brand new package of Raw, Soulful, and Heartfelt tunes will be the plan. Jack Mack’s history of digging into the roots of Stax, the funk of the Godfather, and the grease of the Soul Masters, will inspire the band to record a collection of songs only a group with decades under their belt can achieve. First off the block will be their first “Greatest Hits 1982-2009”, which will also include a bonus Christmas/Holiday track; Next, their entire catalog of every performance filmed and recorded since 1981, will be digitized and available on the band’s site, in addition to You Tube, and all the major networks. 10.10.10, is the 30th Anniversary of Jack Mack.
